Relaxing break

Lodge was very spacious with a huge veranda and amazing hot tub which was checked daily by staff. Lovely view over the lake. Staff were all incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. Some small maintenance which needs action eg stained side table, cupboard covering coming off but nothing major. Also the welcome pack did not meet 'luxury' standards eg no salt/pepper/oil, uht milk pods instead of fresh milk. Would definitely come back

Fabulous Stay

The lodge was super, very clean inside and a great location. Beds Super comfy. Restaurant also super, lovely food and totally dog friendly. The decking area of lodge was not clean and if we had wanted to sit outside we couldn't. The furniture was dirty and the cushions were wet and had turned green.

6/10 Okay

A poor experience, but rescued by great customer service

A week or so before we arrived we received a phone call to advise us that we were being moved to a different lodge as our booked lodge had been closed for maintenance. As it was the same type of lodge that was OK. As we arrived via the decking, we noticed huge amounts of grasses etc from the mini lake spread over and through the decking railings. Completely unkempt ad preventing us from reaching parts of the edge of the balcony area. The hot tub cover was so filthy, we didn't even consider opening it to see what it might have been like inside. We walked into the lodge to find that it hadn't been cleaned as throughly as it might have been. Remnants of breakfast from the previous occupants remained on the dining table. Two drinking glasses were cracked. No kitchen scissors. Several of the individual vertical blinds fell off their runners as soon as we tried to open or close them; others were twisted. The result was we couldn't close them as night drew in. This resulted in a degree of loss of privacy. Several of the Roman blinds were broken and wouldn't rise or drop, so again, these were all useless. A wall downlight wasn't working. Then we noticed an unpleasant smell. I investigated to find that the dog waste bin at the side of he lodge was absolutely full of poo bags that clearly hadn'tt been emptied for along time. Either that or the previous occupants had a very busy dog!! In both bedrooms the wardrobes were in poor condition. The velvety material along the inside vertical edges to prevent the metal edges of the sliding doors rubbing against each other were hanging off and simply dangling loosely. In the twin bedroom ensuite the water pressure was so powerful that when we turned on the tap it hit the angled inside edge of the washbasin with such force that it shot into their and cascaded over the top of the washbasin and poured over the front like a shower down the under-basin drawers and into a pool on the floor having first absolutely drenched my wife. It was incredibly difficult to open the tap by just a small amount, so effectively that tap was out of commission throughout the holiday because their plumber wasn't due on site during our stay. The tap in the main ensuite washbasin was only marginally better, but we still had splashes of water over us every time we used the tap. The smart TV wasn't so smart and although we had a reasonable wi-fi signal we couldn't get any of the steaming services as the smart TV could find an internet connection. Never mind, we could always listen to music through the ceiling speakers. No we couldn't! Despite following the detailed instructions that were sent to us beforehand and which were also in the lodge, the system was clearly not working. Olivia, the manager came to visit us and couldn't have been more helpful. She was a breath of fresh air and didn't try to make any excuses. She was a credit to the site and accepted that what we were faced with was totally unacceptable. She came back the following day with another manager, but couldn't fix the TV and sound systems, although she did neaten up the blinds, which fell apart again as soon as we tried to use them. She offered compensation without being asked and what she offered was more than acceptable, acknowledging the awful situation we found ourselves. This was her saving grace, but it still didn't make up for a rather dirty lodge, with limited privacy, taps that showered us and soaked the floor, and not allowing us to come 'home' from dining out and relaxing in front of the TV as we might in our own home. We checked out the next door lodge, which we should have been staying at. We couldn't see inside, but workmen's materials were evident thought the windows. If we thought our balcony was bad, we were glad we didn't end up in that one! It was totally overgrown and any view of the lake was completely (and I mean 'completely') obscured. Aside from Olivia, I must also mention Tom, a young man soon off to University who greeted us very professionally and confidently when we checked in. He looked after us in the restaurant on our first night and always acknowledged us whenever he saw us on our numerous visits to the main house.

Relaxing stay

The location was tranquil but our lodge was very close to road. Lodge was nice but windows dirty and found a few cob webs in bedroom and bottom of fridge

Lovely Break at Your Lodge

A lovely break in a fantastic setting , Great lodges with everything you need , I am being picky but it would make a difference if the doors were painted as they have also been poorly fitted , The pillows have feathers in which I have an allergy too but I should have said previously to my arriving. Great quiet and peaceful and would definitely recommend and return again . Thank you

Absolutely stunning

The accommodation was beautiful, spacious and comfortable, had everything you needed in it. Loved the jacuzzi too! So lovely over looking the lake. It was so quite and peaceful exactly what we wanted. The only thing was the fire place didn't work, the TV in one bedroom didn't work as the connection was terrible and the bath TV didn't work, and one hob didn't work, but that didn't ruin our stay, it was still so lovely. Wish we stayed longer! Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back.

Bk holiday short stay

Actual lodge was lovely very clean and nicely kitted out. Hot tub was great but decking badly need replacing which I believe is to be done in near future. The pond was lovely with a family of ducks. Staff very lovely and coach house restaurant was very good too. Would have given This 5/5 if it wasn’t for a very uncomfortable bed.

Amazing lodge in Devon

This is our second year stopping at Kentisbury Grange over the new year week. We can not recommend here enough. A great location to be on numerous beaches within 15-30 minute drive. The lodge is warm, comfortable and spacious and having the hot tub allows for very relaxed evenings. We will be back without a doubt.

First impressions

Our first impressions were very good the lodge was lovely plenty of room and well kitted out, bedrooms were excellent as were bathrooms. Kitchen was great too.But it was the little things like broken blinds that fell down every time they were pulled, all the blinds were a nitemare to be honest, The hot tub was great used it every night but the decking was so slippery caution had to be taken at all times. And tv had to be tuned in a lot as signal kept going, but apart from the little things can’t fault the place it’s self was a very lovey peacefully stay.

Amazing place to stay

We arrived with our two little dogs and was made feel so welcome. A member of staff walked down to our lodge, unlocked and shown us around The lodge and view was stunning. Lovely little extras, tea and coffee, washing up items, dressing gowns and slippers. We spent so much time just chilling in the lodge and the hot tub, lovely to sit outside and eat watching the ducks. The grounds and Grange are just stunning to walk around with the dogs or to sit outside the Coach house for a drink. The owner made our dogs so welcome by bringing out a bowl of cheese for them!! Would definitely stay again.

First time staying at the ketisbury Grange. We loved everything about it! Superb staff, so polite and helpful. The lodges are stunning! The hot tub was a huge hit with our 11 year old son! The beds are extremely comfortable. We were given everything from hairdryers to skin care and hair care to enjoy using in the bathroom and shower rooms. The little touches made everything! A fan, an iron the list goes on! Overall a 10 out of 10 for us. We stayed for 4 nights but loved it that much we are booked in for bext year but stretched to 7 nights! Take me back!!
