About this property

Chapel Walk Cottage, Didmarton - sleeps 5 guests in 3 bedrooms

Chapel Walk Cottage is a terraced, Cotswold stone cottage, rising to three floors. It is set down a quiet, no-through, residential lane off the main road running through Didmarton village. The ‘Walk' leads down a slight incline to an old chapel, past a delightful row of allotments and on to paths that lead to open countryside and round to the local pub.

On the ground floor is a cosy living-dining room with original, tall windows, sofa and cushioned window seating, a wood burning stove and a dining table seating up to five guests, with a separate, well-equipped kitchen to one side. The first floor has two, comfortable double bedrooms and the family bathroom, while the top floor has been converted into a twin room set into the exposed eaves.

The cottage is at the end of a terraced row of pretty cottages, with dedicated parking for two cars immediately opposite. While the cottage doesn't have its own garden, it is surrounded by great walking, accessed from the end of Chapel Walk. Didmarton has a popular village pub, with a garden, just a few minutes' walk from the cottage, and is within a 45-minute walk of Badminton Park, the only ducal seat in Gloucestershire where the Somerset, Worcester and Beaufort families have successively lived for 500 years.

*Dogs: 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome at the cottage at an additional cost each. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog and we will then revise your booking confirmation. The pet fee is NOT included in your booking fee. A request for an additional fee per pet will be sent to you after you have placed your booking. Your pet fee must be paid for before your arrival date.

Ground Floor

Living-Dining Room:
Step through the front door into a cosy living-dining room, decorated and furnished in a country-cottage style, with a wood burning stove. The cottage's 19th century history is reflected in the tall, high windows, with cushioned window seats, providing a cosy nook to read a book or watch the smart TV from. The living area is furnished with a three-seater sofa, footstool and TV unit, with maps and games inside. The dining area is tucked into the far end of the room, with a table, chairs and a cushioned window seat providing seating for up to five guests.

Kitchen:
A glass-panelled door separates the living-dining room from a compact, well-equipped, sunny and bright kitchen, with a double sink, dishwasher, electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. In here you'll find plenty of hooks to hang coats and an understair cupboard stores cleaning and ironing equipment.

First Floor

Head up a carpeted staircase with a handrail to Bedrooms One and Two and the Family Bathroom.

Bedroom One:
Sitting at the front of the cottage, this pretty, double bedroom, with a calming palette of blue, is furnished with a standard double bed, bedside tables and reading lamps, a small hanging rail and a dressing table with a mirror over. Sit on the low, wide windowsill reading a book or watch the world go peacefully by below.

Bedroom Two:
This bedroom features tones of green and also sits at the front of the cottage, with a view across to neighbouring gardens, which can be enjoyed perching on the low, wide windowsill. The bedroom is furnished with a small double (positioned against the wall), a bedside table and reading lamp and a large chest of drawers with a swing-back mirror and a small hanging rail. (This bedroom is suitable for one adult or possibly two children sharing.)

Family Bathroom:
The compact family bathroom has a wood-panelled, full-size bath with an electric shower over, a large wash basin, with a vanity unit and mirror, and a toilet. There is a shaver point in the bathroom cabinet.

Second Floor

Head up the second flight of stairs, minding your head on the low beams as you go, to the attic bedroom. Please note this room has an open staircase without a door and has low beams leading up to it and directly above the beds. A hanging rail with hangers is provided on the stairs leading up.

Bedroom Three:
The converted attic room, with its original, exposed timbers is furnished with two full-size single beds, sharing a central bedside table with a reading lamp, two small chest of drawers and a standard chest of drawers, as well as a full-length mirror and luggage stand. The two Velux windows (with blinds) provide a fantastic view out across the village and over the surrounding fields.

Outside

While the cottage doesn't have its own garden, it is surrounded by great walking, accessed from either end of Chapel Walk. In addition, it is within four miles of Badminton Park and Westonbirt National Arboretum. The village has a popular village pub, which is just a minutes' walk away, There are two, dedicated, off-street parking places immediately opposite the cottage.
