Weekend City Break

Lovely accommodation only 15 minutes walk along the river into York centre and the train station. Good local pub round the corner and a great Chinese Takeaway. Ideal after a day walking round York. Would recommend.

The house is very nicely presented - spaces are compact (except for the bathroom), well-organized, clean, and comfortable. The host was in communication with us before, during, and after our stay. We were briefly confused about the wi-fi access - there were two different networks and passwords given, but that was sorted out quickly. The house is in a quiet neighborhood not far from the center of York. On-street parking is available (first come, first served). We made simple meals, but the kitchen is supplied with equipment to make just about anything, and the washing machine came in handy for food spills on shirts! The only difficulty we had was with the heat. It worked, but the thermostat seemed to be set quite low, and any adjustments only overrode that for a couple of hours. That was fine downstairs, but the bedroom upstairs was hard to keep warm on cold nights. We put the wooly blanket from downstairs on the bed, so we slept comfortably, but the room was generally on the chilly side. It wasn't enough of an issue to keep us from enjoying our stay, though. It was nice to be able to make our own meals, to have a living room to unwind in late in the evening, and to be away from the hustle and bustle of York. It's a great place, especially if you're planning a leisurely, slow-paced vacation. I thoroughly recommend it.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review! I’m delighted to hear that you found the house comfortable, well-equipped, and in a convenient, quiet location. I really appreciate your kind words about the communication and the amenities—it means a lot to know that they helped make your stay enjoyable. I also appreciate your feedback regarding the heating. I’ll look into making adjustments to ensure the upstairs bedroom stays warmer on colder nights, so future guests can have an even cozier experience. It was a pleasure hosting you, and I’d be delighted to welcome you back anytime!

Thank you for your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear about the issues you experienced during your stay. This is certainly not the standard we aim to provide. Please rest assured that your comments regarding the gate, bin area, and the concerns in the kitchen have been noted and will be followed up with the relevant teams as a priority. We also appreciate your feedback regarding accessibility, and we will review how we communicate these details more clearly for future guests. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention, and we’re sorry that your experience did not meet expectations.
