Great Location!

Wonderful location, close to many restaurants & La Madera beach. Bridge to town a few steps away. Bed was very comfortable, great kitchen. No air conditioning in the second bedroom, didn’t matter to us as we were only two people. FYI there isn’t a solid entry door, only an iron screen. Still felt very safe and it wasn’t too noisy, but the floor (and the bottoms of your feet) got very dirty from the street traffic. Great communication from Mercedes the host.

Disaster

Grossly exaggerated by host. The photo on VRBO showed a bright, well lit place. Instead it was very dark, had only an iron gate, covered by a shower rod with a blackout curtain... NO DOOR!!! In the morning and when I returned, it was always on the ground. At night when I was on my computer or watching TV, the bugs would fly around the light and crawl on me. The kitchen was poorly stocked with old cutlery, and the glass on the cupboards was so dirty you could barely see through it. The shower had no barrier to keep water in, so entire bathroom had to be mopped up after showering. I stayed for three nights, completely traumatized, with no response from host when I phoned her. I met some people who helped me find a new place to stay, but host said I couldn't have any refund because apartment was not misrepresented. Several weeks later I walked past and there was someone in the apartment. I called out and Mercedes, the host was there from Guadalahara with her baby and workmen to install a door. She had no right to be in the apartment because I had paid in full until December 14. She wanted me to move back in after door was installed, which was ridiculous. I had already found accommodation and was never going back. I had strangers who have now become friends help me find a place, and all said they would never have stayed there. I was so stressed, I contemplated going back to Canada. Due to the kindness of these new friends, I stayed.
