The Fox House, disability access on the Dordogne/Charente border Quiet retreat
Welcome to our traditional French cottage in the picturesque region of Poitou Charente which provides comfortable living space with a private 16m2 above ground pool for up to six persons also a private Scandinavian wood fired hot tub, to enjoy with no light pollution under our dark skies. Alternatively relax with a book in one of our individual hammock seats in the meadow, or the individual or group hammocks in the woods. Our wild flower meadow is alive with a variety of butterflies and dragon flies in the summer.
The cottage comprises of :
Living and Dining Areas
The living room has multi language television channels provided by IPTV and a wood burning stove for the cooler months.
The kitchen diner is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, cooker and dishwasher. This room historically was the bakery for the hamlet and still retains the original preserved bakers oven.
There is also an external utility room which is equipped with a washing machine, second fridge freezer and storage.
Bedrooms:
Two double bedrooms are located downstairs with the third twin bedroom upstairs.
Bedroom 1: Is a beautiful and generous sized double bedroom with a light and airy ensuite wet room. This room is on the same level as the living room and has an adjoining door to bedroom 2, should it be required.
We have created a room which is comfortable for all our guests, retaining the character of the cottage, yet practical for those who will appreciate the raised plug points and lowered light switches for ease of use.
This room has the option of twin adjustable electric beds if required.
Bedroom 2: Is a large spacious double bedroom with independent access to the garden and living area.
This was the original kitchen of the cottage and retains the preserved Charentes stone fireplace and carved stone sink.
Bedroom 3: Is a twin room and located upstairs, there is also a landing with games or office space.
A range of equipment for children's needs: cot, high chair, bouncy chair available at no extra cost.
Important: If there are any disability access needs, Please contact us prior to arrival in order that we can discuss the required equipment so we have the opportunity to have it in place.
