The Bothy - Cosy ground floor accommodation in restored stables. Dogs welcome
The Manor House Stables, a rural retreat in the heart of Lincolnshire, with wood-burning stoves and exposed beams, restored using natural eco-friendly materials into two luxury cottages. We can offer you cosy warm accommodation in the Bothy or Hayloft (separate listing), each of which sleeps 2 plus an extra sleeping space in box beds for a child or two.
The Bothy is all at ground floor level, with your parking area just a step or two away from the main door. You'll find a peaceful bedroom, a small but well-equipped kitchen, an unusual wooden bath in the tiled bathroom with walk-in shower and a cosy warm living/dining room. Spend time cooking a casserole or even baking bread in the warm Everhot, snuggling up by your wood-burning stove or soaking in the wooden tub. It is a cosy accommodation, perfect for couples, but it can also accommodate one child in the extra sleeping space in a single box bed in the living room. Here you will find a welcome hamper packed with goodies such as plum loaf, locally-made jam, chocolates and wine. You are also provided with tea, coffee, milk and luxury toiletries, plenty of the necessaries such as toilet paper and as many logs as you wish!
You'll enjoy the gorgeous little garden just outside the back door, with its wooden table and chairs, a basket swing and a small barbeque set. Your well-behaved dog is also welcome to enjoy the break with you. We offer a doggy hamper to all good doggies plus we provide bowls, towels, poo bags, and other essentials.

About the host

What a challenge this has been! I spent many years researching and sourcing traditional and environmentally-friendly methods and materials to restore our dilapidated 18th listed stable block which we purchased along with the adjoining Manor House in 1993. And finally(!) in 2008 we opened our doors to our first guests and there's been no looking back! Courses started in 2009 but unfortunately finished at the beginning of Covid in 2020. I love gardening and have beautiful raised beds full of all sorts of colourful vegetables and flowers. We have apple, pear and plum trees, a lovely wisteria arbour, a living willow screen and a half-finished wildlife pond!
Why they chose this property
When we came to have a look at the Manor House Stables in 1993 it was in a terrible state, and the stables were even worse. I felt sorry for it and wanted to restore it and keep it alive for future generations. I saw great potential in the stables and always knew I was going to run a business from it. The house was built in 1791 and is full of historical interest. The stables were built shortly after this and were used for the horses, coach and stable boys. Researching the history of the house and stables has been amazing and unexpected findings have resulted - for example, the house was a Land Army Hostel in the 2nd World War.
What makes this property unique
Full of history, plenty of space, large gardens, open aspect across fields, beautiful night skies, peaceful, safe.
