About this property
Historic 16th Century Tudor Manor with 5 bedrooms
The Manor House is a beautiful historic family home on the edge of the friendly village of Bramley between Basingstoke, Reading and Newbury. Great for large families or groups. Off road parking for 4 cars and a stunning garden including covered outdoor eating area with BBQ and pizza oven. There are many lovely rural walks nearby, a traditional country pub within 2 miles and the award winning Wellington Arms nearby. Easy access to Basingstoke station (10 mins), M3 (10 mins) and M4 (20 mins).
The House
The Manor House dates to the 16th Century and boasts many features such as oak beams and panelling. However, unlike many such houses, the ceilings are not low, although you may need to duck under some of the doorways! There is a lovely sitting room with an open log fire to relax in and a less formal playroom with large TV. The kitchen has an AGA as well as a separate electric oven, hob, large fridge, freezer, dishwasher and walk in larder. The separate utility room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and microwave. There is a downstairs toilet. The dining room is a beautiful room, whether for sunny Sunday lunches or cosy evening dinners. The oak panelled study is the perfect place to work. It has a desk all set up for modern day working as well as an area to sit and relax. The broadband is fast and strong throughout the house. The main staircase leads off the sitting room and is original to the house. At the top of that staircase you will find the master bedroom and bathroom as well as a double (bedroom 3) and two singles (bedrooms 4 & 5). Bedroom 4 is large and a camp bed can be put up in there to make it a twin on request. Bedrooms 3,4 & 5 share a bathroom and separate toilet although bedroom 3 also has its own basin. A separate staircase leads up to bedroom 2 which has its own bathroom and separate toilet. This bedroom is the perfect room for guests that want to have a little quiet away from the rest of the group as it can only be reached by this staircase. Bedroom 2 has a king size bed but can also be a twin.
The area and things to do
The Manor House sits in the old part of the village of Bramley. Bramley has its own train station (15 minute walk), farm shop & cafe, bakery and shop. There are many rural walks nearby. The Grade I listed St James' Church is just a few steps away and guests can walk through the churchyard and out onto the footpaths that cross the surrounding fields. The Vyne (National Trust house) is only a mile down the road. Guests can enjoy visiting the house or just take walks through the adjacent Morgaston Wood. The ancient Roman town of Silchester (known as Calleva Atrbatum by the Romans) is only 3 miles away. Much of the old Roman wall which surrounded the town still stands and it is a stunning place to visit. A traditional pub, The Plough, is only a mile away and is a great place to have a pint before lunch on a Sunday. There are many other great pubs and restaurants nearby, including the award winning The Wellington Arms in Baughurst. Basingstoke is only 10 minutes away and is a great place to shop or enjoy concerts and shows at The Anvil.
Please note
We have superfast broadband.
Access to the entire property and garden. My mother lives in the next door annex (separate driveway and front door). Her cottage has its own terrace which forms a small corner of the main garden.
We have a travel cot which can be erected in any bedroom, if requested. It comes with a cot sheet, cot duvet and cover.
This is our home. We want all our guests to feel at home when they stay here. For this reason, although we clear away most of our personal items, we do not lock away dried food in the larder and items stored in the utility room. We are happy for you to use these. We only ask that, if you make serious inroads into anything, you replace it or leave a contribution. Neither do we lock the drinks cupboard. Please do not use any wine or spirits.
