We loved our stay! Everything we needed was provided for us and we loved staying in such a historic location. Even the birdwatching was great with a pair of Tawny Owls seen in the nearby woods. Next time, we will try to make sure that we time it it enjoy seeing the steam train!

Thank you so much for your kind review. We look forward to having you back soon x
We had a nice time in the Station Masters House, It is well located for peace and quiet, and the novelty of being situated at a train station was cool. All beds were reported comfortable, even the bunk beds, easy sleeping when you have jet lag. Wifi was best in the kitchen and TV in living room had no signal, so ... no Brit news n weather. There weren't outside seats / table to enjoy the weather as a group of 6 sadly.

Great location, shame about the property
The property was not cleaned at all, i had stained bed sheets and towels, quite questionable that they were even clean. Urine left in the toilet, had definitely been there a while, it was quite toxic! My 4 year old found some prescription only drugs in a bedside table draw, thankfully it was when my Mum was in the room and took it straight off her. After hunting for bedsheets, there were no spares at the house, the cleaner came to give us new ones, rambled on for 20 mins telling us how hard her week was and even that someone came to fix her boiler and shes been working really hard - she definitely didnt work hard on this place, some of the cobwebs were VERY old! Apparently 4 people were in there cleaning that day! She even kept saying how it had been cleaned when we showed her the bedsheets. We asked her to leave the sheets and we will change them as it was nearly 10pm and i was waiting to put my 4 year old to bed. She refused to leave the house to the point where i was close to calling the police to remover her!
Looks like the grouting had started to be redone in the bathroom which is great, but the grout hadnt been wiped off the tiles, easily done with a standard sponge. The outside area by the the platform has some mega weeds and dead plants in pots, not how i saw it in the picturesThe house really wasnt presented well which is such a shame as its such a fantastic location and loved having the steam train stopping right outside! It was just such an aweful experience for us

We are surprised and sorry about this experience. Our cleaners started in September and to date have consistently scored highly in reviews. We sent our house keepers immediately after I got your message. Clearly there have been problems here and we are taking steps to ensure they are put right. It may have been useful to allow the cleaner entry after her 45 minute drive to view the problems so that they could be verified and corrected right away. Nevertheless we are grateful that these have been bought to our attention so that we can be sure they do not reoccur. Please see the response from our housekeepers as below:

I just wanted to add the following comments if you think they’d be helpful, or if not, at the very least I wanted yourself and Stephen to see them:
Attached picture of yellow toilet duck. This is what was in the toilet, and not urine that was “toxic and been there a while”. We usually use the green toilet duck which has an alpine aroma, and will leave some in the bowl after cleaning because it makes the bathroom smell nice, but on this occasion it had been substituted for an alternative which although still smells nice (lemon) has obviously been mistaken by the guest for urine. The very fact that they have said on multiple occasions how bad this “urine” has made the bathroom smell, should be an instant indicator as to the trustworthiness of these guests in my opinion…
The guest was quite nasty to me and swore at me too, using the F word. She said if clean bedding had been available at the house then it would have saved me the “f’ing 45 minute drive”. What she doesn’t understand is that we remove the dirty bedding each time we come and clean, and replace it with clean bedding, before taking the dirty bedding back home to wash / dry and iron. It’s a revolving process and so that’s why there were no sheets there for her to use herself
The marks on the bed that she was insinuating meant the bed hadn’t been cleaned were ridiculous if I’m totally honest. It was a small black line towards the bottom of the duvet cover, similar to as if the cover had rubbed against something dusty. She had to angle the cover in a certain way to be able to show me the mark and by no means was it as “disgusting and gross” as she implied. She also said that my sheets “smelt of nothing” when I encouraged her to smell them, and I know this is a lie because everyone comments on how lovely my sheets smell.
I’m unable to comment on the other issues she mentioned
