We were looking for a quiet dog-friendly place to decompress after my wife spent three weeks taking care of her elderly mother recovering from a recent stroke. This property fit the bill nicely. Very quiet location right near the lake town of Rexford.
It is small, but had most of the necessities we needed. It is a very well built wood cabin with an excellent front porch for relaxing and eating outdoors. We did enjoy using the hot tub after a long day hike, but mostly we just relaxed on the porch.
The Traeger pellet grill was a pleasant surprise and we used it to cook some burgers and brats to perfection. High speed internet allowed us to check in with the world, but mostly we used it to play our Pandora playlists and stations.
The bed was a little soft for our backs, but that will be a personal preference that is different for everyone.
The property is also about 10 miles from the Canadian border, so we enjoyed a day trip to Fernie for some hiking and dog-friendly outdoor dining.
We spent two days golfing the Indian Springs Ranch and the wilderness Club courses. Both are worthy of play and we had a good day at each. We like to walk the courses for the exercise, and I would recommend AGAINST walking the Wilderness Club.
The hosts were very nice and responsive to questions. We truly appreciate them allowing us to rent this property and especially for allowing us to do so with our elderly chocolate lab, who was able to go on a few day hikes with us.
This place is truly a private and quiet cabin in the woods. We enjoyed the seclusion, but we were also close enough to Lake Koocanusa and Rexford to enjoy the beach and awesome trails. We also did daytrips to Whitefish and to the west side of the lake. This getaway was exactly what we were looking for and is exactly what was advertised. Keith and Dona were very hospitable and helpful with local attractions. We will definitely be back for a longer stay!
Had an awesome vacation at this property. It was exactly what we were looking for. My wife and I both agreed that was the most relaxing week we have had in long time. Was definitely the best place we could have picked for our dogs, I’m pretty sure they enjoyed it as much or more then we did. I will definitely recommend to other people. Thx again.
This cabin adds to the beauty that is in abundance in Montana, My wife and I fell in love with the long summer days and sitting on the porch playing cards late each evening. We will be back in Montana again soon and hopefully another stay at Keith & Dona's property as the quiet cant be described but man can it be enjoyed. And the Hot Tub certainly is nice after a day filled with hiking and exploring all this area has to offer.
Had a great week in the Rexford / Eureka area. Lots of options for recreation in the area with National and State forests, lakes, and several National parks within driving distance in the US and Canada. Cabin is comfortable and is in a great setting. Keith greeted us and was responsive to questions.
Keith and Dona where great to work with. Easy to check in and place was exactly as described. Enjoyed a few things in the area as well as going to Glacier National Park and Canada. In Canada we recommend the Fairy Falls trail be the visitors center in Fermin BC.
The Eagle's Nest was a perfect place for a quiet vacation. It is in a private location and has everything you need. The hot tub and grill provide all the necessary entertainment. However, with WIFI you can look at your phone and watch TV too.
Short trips to Canada and hikes are all around the area. The best part is there are no crowds, so if you like visiting the outdoors without the crowds this is the place.
We hope to rent it again in the future. Thanks for a great stay.
Keith and Donna go above and beyond! They provide an amazing, clean cabin, and offer a ton of suggestions to ensure that you have a great time and are aware of all that their area has to offer!
All the beauty of the National Parks without the crowds.
Keith and Dona's cabin was a perfect place to enjoy nature and get away from the noise. Mornings spent on the porch are so peaceful. The cabin includes many amenities other rentals don't have, like linens, trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, and dish soap. We highly recommend staying here. If you are looking for hiking adventures even at Glacier National Park, it's worth the hour drive to have the serenity. There are plenty of hiking options nearby, just as beautiful without the crowds or parking issues too. Let's not forget the hot tub to recover from all the hiking!
The locals are extremely friendly, offering site-seeing places and food options. We recommend Cafe Jax, The Front Porch, G's ice cream, and even the Frontier Bar for outstanding food.
Amish cabin was beautiful and on lg lot of land which gave lots of room to explore. Right next to Lake Kookanusa 90 miles long reservoir with really nice beaches if you have the boat to get to them ( their is a public beach but we thought it was crowded) and close to lots of national forests and trails. The owners were very kind and let us walk on their property. Lots of wildlife to see. And they have a traeger which my husband loved using for his smoked meat meals. For the price you pay you get A LOT. I highly recommend. Thanks. Joseph and Heather.
The online description and photos are accurate, so don't worry about the very affordable price being too good to be true. It is a great deal for a beautiful log cabin, hidden on tree-covered mountain. The property is far enough away from the highway and other properties to ensure privacy and quiet. We couldn't quite see Lake Koocanusa from the patio, but we spent the week trekking to dozens of breathtaking landscapes, so we certainly didn't miss out. Note that there are large predatory animals in the area, so keep handy whatever deterrents you prefer (blast horn, bearspray, etc.). We saw a wolf walking by 50 yards from the patio. The more you hike in Montana, the more awesome encounters like this you will experience. And Eagle's Nest is a perfectly situated as a luxury base camp.
Awesome property- Privacy! We loved our stay!
Hot tub, front porch, and chairs placed up the hill with view of lake Koocanusa were all fabulous!
Thanks Keith and Dona for sharing your property!
We had a AMAZING week at Eagle's Nest Cabin! It was very peaceful & relaxing & beautiful there! Thanks so much Keith & Dona for sharing your little piece of heaven with us!
We loved staying in this area and cabin. Keith and Dona are super nice and will send you suggestions of things to do, and we pretty much did all of them! We also climbed Stahl Peak and hiked to Crater Lake, which were a bit harder but very fun. And we loved going to Swisher Lake, which is close by, dog friendly, and we never saw another person. Great trip!
This property was the perfect place to get away for the week. The cabin is the perfect size for two people and has everything you’ll need during your stay. The hot tub was a great place to relax and look the the stars.
The property is close to several small towns, lakes and hiking trails. It makes for a perfect central location to see what Montana has to offer. It was also easy to find, even if your bad at directions!
The deck has two rocking chairs perfect for spending the day reading and watching the wildlife; especially the humming birds! They even put two chairs on the hill that provide a beautiful view of the sunset over the mountains and the lake.
Thanks so much for letting us use your property for the week. It was wonderful.
