The setting of Son Genet can truly be described as spectacular. Painstakingly refurbished, this stunning former farmhouse, bordered by lush citrus groves, sits in gorgeous private grounds just outside the hilltop village of Búger. From the poolside terraces there are very impressive views across to the Massanella and Tomir peaks of the Tramuntana mountains on one side and all the way to the north coast on the other. Everything about Son Genet oozes quality. A seamless blend of old and new with the original, centuries old, farmhouse stylishly renovated and very sympathetically extended to provide extremely comfortable and roomy living space.
The eye-catching interior decorated with style and imagination, remains tastefully in keeping with the property's pastoral location and origins. Exposed stonework, wooden beams, local ceramics and colour-washed walls abound. The large dining/kitchen features quality appliances, ample worktop space and easy access out to the terrace for alfresco meals.
Contemporary furnishings adorn the living room along with a fashionable and intriguingly eclectic collection of antique film posters.
Further enhancing privacy options for sharing families or groups of friends, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a sitting/reading room have been recently added to the accommodation. Created from a part of the building that was formerly a grain store-cum-stables, this excellent addition to facilities (collectively named 'Limon') has been seamlessly integrated into the body of the house via an extension to the central hallway. Great care has been taken to ensure that décor and furnishings remain fully in keeping with the already established high standards of taste, style and quality in the original part of the property ('Naranja'). All five bedrooms are air conditioned and boast far-reaching views.
Old railway sleepers form the stairway leading up from the dining terrace to the private pool where the decked sun terrace is exceptionally spacious. This is an idyllic spot and a perfect place in which to relax to the sound of birdsong and the soft tinkle of sheep bells. From this commanding, elevated position the views to all points of the compass compete with each other for the right to be centre of attention.
A gated country track leads uphill to Búger (or it is an easy 4 minute drive) where amenities include a Saturday market, two local cafes and a popular bakery selling essential groceries and lovely fresh croissants of a morning (get there early though!).
Various beaches including the sweeping bay of Pollença are under 20 minutes away and it is 12km to both the famous bird sanctuary of S'Albufera and pretty, Old Alcúdia with its Roman history and respected restaurants. Several good local restaurants also dot the surrounding countryside.
* The bedroom on the middle floor of 'Limon' can be prepared as a double or a twin - please advise preference at time of booking. As a courtesy to guests we have been asked by the owner of Son Genet (Toni) to mention that the citrus groves are harvested once a year by hand, usually around mid May - early June. The harvest is very low key and there remains little to no impact on your holiday privacy during this time. Property Licence No. VT 1645
Please note that in addition to the property rental there is a local tourist tax to pay for all visitors aged 16 and over. €2.00 (€2.20 incl. IVA) (£2) per night for the first 9 nights, €1.00 (€1.10 incl. IVA) (£1) per night for each night thereafter per person. We will add this amount to your booking.
