Mara Brae is located in the picturesque village of Downderry and Seaton with stunning views out to Looe Island and out over Looe Bay. We have easy stair free access to the beach, we're right on the slipway, which is used for launching small fishing boats, kayaks, etc. The beach is sandy and full of wonderful rock pools to play in when the tide is out. 20 steps from the house and a 100 meter meander through the Downderry Memorial Garden will bring you to Inn On The Shore Pub for drinks with still more stunning views. If you want something a little different, there is also an awesome vegan cafe serving delicious vegan food and ice cream called Summink Different a 4 minute walk from the house. 'The Conch' a cocktail bar and restaurant has also just opened for you to give a try! The village shop is a 3 minute walk from the house and great for stocking up on essentials.
The South Coast Path can be accessed within an easy 10 minute walk from the house, or can be accessed walking along the beach. The RNLI life guarded Seaton Beach is a short walk along the beach where you can grab a drink or some food at Seaton Beach Cafe, Beach House Restaurant, or Smugglers Inn Pub. Seaton Riverside Park has lovely bike paths and riverside woodland walks if you would like a change of scenery from the sea and coastal cliffs and why not end your walk with a meal and a tipple at the Copley Arms in Hessenford? All the beaches and the woodland paths are dog friendly!
The lovely fishing village of Looe is 4 miles away and perfect for a day outing and Plymouth is easily reached by the foot ferry from Mt. Edgecombe Estate. We're happy to give you ideas if you're stuck for things to do. You're really spoilt for choice! Or stay in and relax in our hot tub and enjoy a tipple on the deck as you watch the sunset and the beach goers go by!!!
