La Colonna is one of five, completely independent apartments that comprise Villa Pecille, a sumptious agriturismo overlooking the beautiful Conca d’Oro valley and the vineyards of the Fontodi wine estate, on the edge of the medieval village of Panzano in Chianti.
The Villa was acquired by the owners in the late nineties and carefully restored and amplified the elegant 17th century building, respecting the original architectural style of the Leopoldine era. Five spacious apartments were created, each with an independent entrance and private outdoor living area. The guests in the apartments share only the surrounding gardens, the swimming pool and the parking area.
La Colonna is situated in the old granary of Villa Pecille and has two entrances, one from the internal courtyard of the Villa and the other from the private garden facing the solarium and pool area of the shared gardens, with unlimited views of the spectacular sunsets each evening.
The main entrance leads into a very spacious living room whose centerpiece is an antique stone column, from which the apartment takes its name. A wooden spiral staircase has been constructed around the column, leading to the upper floor with its two en-suite bedrooms, one with bathtub and shower and the other with shower.
Two further bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms are located in another wing of the apartment on the ground floor.
A few steps lead down from the living room into the dining area and fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, electric oven) with a its picturesque arched window looking out over the Conca d’Oro valley.
All of the bedrooms are fully air-conditioned and there are mosquito screens on the windows. During the winter months the apartment is centrally heated.
(the cost is included in the rental.)
La Colonna has its own private outdoor area furnished with dining table and chairs and a barbecue.
The decoration of La Colonna is very tasteful in every detail and the apartment as a whole emanates a relaxed and comfortable feeling.
