Oxford Chalet w/Beach and Lake Access, Outdoor Living Area w/TV and Fireplace
Enjoy all the excitement of Oxford and Ole Miss, then retreat to this spacious, comfy, quiet getaway just a short walk to the beach and lake! The covered deck makes it extra special with a woodburing fireplace, four recliners, a couch, table, grill and TV.
This house looks feels like a mountain home while being only 13 miles to Jackson Ave. in the heart of Oxford. It has a semi-private Sardis Lake beach just a 3 minute walk away.
This 2100 sf, 3 Bedroom/2 bath home has three bedrooms and a bonus queen-sized sleeping spot in the great room. The house has five smart TVs: one in the great room, one in each bedroom and one on the back porch.
There's a king sized, four-poster bed in the first bedroom, a full-sized double four-poster bed in the second bedroom, a full-sized country pine bed in the third bedroom, and a queen-sized sleeper sofa if needed in the great room.
It sits in one of the only residential spots near Sardis Lake and is embedded in Federal Corps of Engineers land, so it's super quiet and peaceful. (NOTE: If you are planning a to get more people together than this house will accommodate, we also own a 2 BR/1 Bath house across the street VRBO listing #3114696.)
During summer when the lake is at its peak water level, you can spend the day on the beach to swim or fish or go for a walk at dusk to see the incredible sunset. The rest of the year, it's still great for walks and incredible views.
There's a large recreational boat launch (Clear Creek Recreational area) just a half mile away from the house if you want to bring your boat for fishing, water skiing or even to pull it around to anchor off the beach near the house.
Clear Creek is also home to an 8-mile mountain bike trail which is just 1/8 of a mile from your front door.
For game days, the route to town is along one of the least developed areas of Oxford, so not too much traffic at all.
The house is a spacious, open floor plan with a great kitchen. It has a large sub-zero side-by side refrigerator and freezer, Wolf double ovens and a very large island with seating for entertaining. It has a very large dining table that seats up to 10 if needed.
If you love Oxford and all it has to offer, but you also enjoy peace, quiet, relaxation and the outdoors, along with a beach and a lake, this is the house for you.
Our family loves this house and we think you will love it as much as we do!

My family and I had a great time at this property. It was a very pleasant stay and a great place to get some down time away from the daily hustle in the city. Communication with the host was very easy and excellent. We will recommend it to others for their stays in the area.

Thank you for being our guest. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay, and we look forward to hosting you again!
Perfectly private and spacious stay by the lake. We planned a last minute trip into Oxford & this cabin was perfect! It had everything we needed and it offered my teen son a chance to fish while the girls went into Oxford, shopping. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate for us. It does have a nice covered deck on the back and a covered front porch so we were not stuck inside while it rained. Very comfortable stay!
Allison is an exceptional host! Great communication throughout our stay. The home is quite lovely and the kitchen is phenomenal. We couldn't have picked a more perfect home to celebrate our son's graduation and Naval Officer commissioning. Thank you, Allison for helping our family make more memories that will last a lifetime!

Thank you! It was our pleasure, Chris. Y'all were perfect guests, and we are so glad you enjoyed it. We've held our own family graduation and other gatherings there, and it has worked out perfectly. Would love to keep updated on your son's future endeavors!
We came in for an Ole Miss football game to see our kids. We absolutely loved our stay on Sardis lake! It was a super easy drive into Oxford. The house had everything and more that we needed. The communication with the owner was super prompt and responsive. We cannot say enough good things about this property and cannot wait to come back. Highly recommend !

I'd give the 2 1 stars zero stars if possible, the owner never reached out to me after reservation was made. I'm driving to the place with no idea of how I'm getting in or anything. We got lost wich isn't her fault, but the only reason we found the place/talked to the owner was because i finally contacted Vrbo. I asked for a refund but didn't receive it. The place is nice and really close to Oxford and we enjoyed the walk to the lake .
I just would caution anyone because i honestly thought i had been had. We spent $ for this vacca and couldn't reach the owner, even though i tried numerous times.

Dara we are sorry that there was trouble with your arrival. As you can see we have 4.5 stars over 30 reviews and have an excellent track record of communication and guest satisfaction. I would encourage anyone reading this review to check all of the others. It's unfortunate that you chose to rate us the way you did when you say that the house is nice. When you did not arrive for the first night of your stay, we thought you weren't coming at all. We connected right away when you called and had a pleasant conversation. We never received a request for cancellation through VRBO or directly by text. I have double checked all avenues of communication. So that is at an accurate statement. Again we are sorry for any trouble you had. We take pride in taking care of our guests. Allison
This property was perfect for our group of 4 friends. It was located far enough away from all of the action, yet it was a mere 15-20 minute drive to the Square, The Grove and everything happening on a great oxford game day. The covered back porch was the bomb! We enjoyed cooking, watching college football and taking in the gorgeous weather on the back porch and was really our central location. The kitchen is very large and has all of the best equipment, as well as a great selection of pots and pans, utensils, spices, etc. Although a 3BR which keeps the pricing affordable, the roll-out bed is comfortable and it easily accommodates 4 guys with their own space. I even slept on the porch couch one night because the weather was so perfect.
We enjoyed our golf experience in West Point, where two of the top 3 courses in MS are located--Old Waverly and Mossy Oak. We could have played closer as well, but we are kind of particular about playing the highest quality courses in our area. West Point was about 1.5 hours away.
For a group of Kansan's who don't get the chance to experience the SEC game day very often, all I can say is the Grove is everything it is cracked up to be. We were lucky enough to be hosted by a Ole Miss alum who knew how to do it right. AWESOME is the only thing I can say.
Allison could not have been a better host, giving us advice on things to do, aiding us with any questions we had about game day....she even helped us find a place to park near the stadium. And took the time out each day just to make we were enjoying our time and if we needed anything additional. I have been a part of renting over 30+ VRBO's, and this experience was among the top 3 ever from that standpoint. Thanks again Allison.

Thank you so much, Chad. You and your group were a pleasure to host. It was so much fun sharing our home, knowledge and our love of Oxford and Ole Miss with such a receptive and great group. Y'all left the house in perfect shape and I can't wait to hear where you decide to take your next football/golf weekend outing. Thanks again for being great guests!!
This property was great and met the needs of my family. The owner was easy to get in touch with and stayed in contact with me to ensure that our stay was expected.
We had a great stay and great home on Sardis Lake (approx 15 minutes from Oxford). Easy drive into town. Our hosts were A+ in communicating up to the stay and checking via text to ensure all was to expectation. Strongly recommend staying with this host!
This was ok but not great. The outdoor furniture was covered in dirt and weeks of pollen so couldn’t use any of it, the beds were old and uncomfortable and while there were tons of old canned goods in the cabinets there wasn’t a single packet of coffee or K cup for the morning. I had to drive 40 minutes to McDonalds for a cup of coffee on Saturday morning. Didnt even have an streaming services on the tv. After spending over $1000 for just 2 nights I expect so much more! Not worth the price.

I certainly apologize for the outdoor furniture. Our housekeepers usually make sure that is dusted off. We get fine sand blowing up from the beach, and sometimes it accumulates faster than others depending on the direction of the wind. We have two different kinds of coffee makers but typically our guests bring their own coffee because they know it will be fresh and the kind they like. We have DirecTV as well as Gig speed internet with two smart TVs -- one in the main living room and one on the back porch which have the streaming apps for people to log into their own accounts. That's the way most VRBO homes handle it. The housekeeper is disposing of the previously left canned goods to avoid any perception of old food. Canned goods typically have a longer expiration date so we sometimes leave them for the next guest. I'm sorry you found the beds uncomfortable. We have many 5 star reviews from people who have been very happy with our place.
We loved the house and the location. It was beautiful and just what we wanted. We would recommend to everyone and would stay there again! Owner was very nice and responsive. Great experience!
The negatives; The back deck could use a cleaning. The water level was high and made hanging out at the water with the family much more difficult than anticipated because the beach was covered. It is about 20 minutes from any stores.
Positives: everything else. The size is great, the amenities are good. We didn’t find the ice machine until the second to last day, but I couldn’t open the information pdf that was sent, so that may have been explained in there. There is a small bar with some alcohol left by prior guests I imagine. It is close to a boat launch and a day use area, even with the water high, we were able to have a good time. The neighbors were nice, we had some chances to speak with a few. Our host was very helpful when I asked for help with some extra information.

Hi Robert, thank you. The Sardis Lake level is indeed high because of excessive rain this summer. Glad you still had fun! That PDF that we send does have lots of helpful information including info about the ice machine. :) I'm sorry you weren't able to open the file. We will check on the back deck. That's one of our special areas of attention before guests arrive!
Friendly owners with great communication. Large living area and nice kitchen. The only issue for us was that the queen sleeper sofa was not in a bedroom, but rather in the main living area. Overall, a nice place to stay and good location.
The owners were very responsive. The property is in a quiet, serene neighborhood about a block from the lake. It was restful and relaxing. Really enjoyed our family time.
Large open space for family gathering. Pet friendly with large yard. Outdoor entertaining with fireplace, grill. Sardis lake and beach was beautiful. Quiet and relaxing. Beautiful sunsets. Close to Oxford for shopping and dining.
We choose this property because it was halfway between all our kids and they all could drive and avoid flying. House was as advertised, kitchen was great ( huge refrigerator/freezer ) and easy access to the beach . Owner was very proactive and shared all the info we needed . We made some great memories.

About the host
Hosted by Allison B. Buchanan
We are Pat and Allison Buchanan from Biloxi, Mississippi. We both have degrees from Ole Miss and our two children Hawtin and Frances graduated from Ole Miss in recent years. We bought this house when Allison was working in Oxford and she and Pat were commuting every other weekend. But we now both work back in Biloxi, so we decided to rent the house out when we aren't visiting! We love this house and plan to keep it as a wonderful getaway for our family. We hope our guests will love it as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
It is close to Oxford, yet you feel like you are in the mountains. It is so close to the lake that we can see the lake in the winter, and we can be on the beach in a couple of minutes for a walk or to watch the sunset.
What makes this property unique
There is so much to do! We are so close to Oxford and can have a great meal on the Square or go to a game on campus and then come home and relax on the back deck by the fire, or we can go walk to the beach and enjoy the lake. There's also a mountain bike trail nearby and a boat launch. One of the nicest things is how quiet it is. You don't hear city noise, and you'll often see deer in the yard.
