Walnut Place a Charming Home in Historic Valley Junction area of West Des Moines

This 4 Bedroom home with large kitchen and gathering areas is completely furnished and ready for you to enjoy. You will love the charming features of this home. Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds, one bedroom has a twin bed and a full-size daybed with a twin size trundle! Another bedroom has a full-size bed and a twin size bed. For an additional guest charge there is also a memory foam full size sofa sleeper in the living room and three roll out queen size mattress/beds. There is a full bath on the second floor, a full bath on the first floor and a really cool locker style bathroom with 2 showers 2 sinks and a toilet in the basement. There is a washer and dryer as well. The lovely shaded patio area provides outdoor space and seating as well. The home is within walking distance to Historic Valley Junction, where there is great shopping and entertainment. You will be close to parks, pools, biking trails as well as the Racoon River park. This is a great property and very conveniently located. It is less than 15 minutes from the Airport and Downtown Des Moines. Plenty of off street parking. This place was a great choice for our work trip. The space was perfect for relaxing after long days. We had plenty of room to spread out and unwind. It was comfortable and convenient for our needs. We would definitely consider staying here again.Plenty of board games to stay entertained as well.

Walnut Place

This house was very vintage but had its quirks like any older house does. We had a great stay and was better than a motel. We enjoyed all the antiques in the house also. Thanks for a great stay

Girls getaway

The house was amazing- so many conversation pieces. We played games, watched movies and enjoyed the overall comfort of this home. Beds were very comfortable- bathrooms well stocked and clean!! Parking is great!!!! Highly recommend!!!

Fun Spot for a Weekend Getaway

Walnut Place is an eclectic getaway close to Valley Junction shopping. Our group of 4 had plenty of space for visiting and relaxing. The hosts were flexible and gracious, making for a pleasant weekend.

Great for a family!

We stayed while watching the state track meet - a quick drive to Drake stadium. Plenty of space for all the adults to relax in between sessions. This was a great value when our alternative was three hotel rooms. Awesome Farmer’s Market a few blocks away on Thursday evening.

Fun in WDM

The house accommodated our needs for a Christmas family gathering. The house is very well stocked with everything you need for your stay. It is also close to stores, restaurants and even a distillery.

Fun!

We had a nice stay. The house was clean, cozy, spacious, and very fun and eclectic. We found what we needed to be able to cook a little and had plenty of space to enjoy our weekend. It is on a busy street, but very close to Valley Junction and a short drive to downtown. Overall a great place to stay!

Great for family!

This house has 4 bedrooms, two on the main floor. Extra showers and toilet in the basement for extra guests. Fantastic game room as well. The eat in kitchen was perfect for our parents to be a part of the food making process! Thank you for your quick response when we had trouble with the door!

Great Space for big groups

The house lends itself really well to a group needing flexible space! I brought a group of High School Speech and Debate competitors to town for their National Competition and there were eight of us total. With minimal moving things about, we all had our own beds and plenty of room. Game room off the kitchen was great for us!

Homey and Authentic

We enjoyed our stay, and the host was very accommodating and pleasant. The place was homey and authentic. The shower/tub on the main floor did not drain well. The host had someone come over and work on it. It helped some, but didn't totally fix the problem. Also, there were no outlets in the upstairs bathroom. We had a lot of people getting ready in the mornings, so this made things a little hectic.All and all, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend our host.

NCAA Stay

Owners came through with honors vis a vie the TV! We're old guys that came to see games live at the arena and watch tons of games on TV. Owner came at night with two technicians to resolve difficulties getting game broadcasts. NEVER HAD A RESPONSE AS GOOD from owners of other VRBO stays.

The host was so kind and helpful! Our family was in town for a wedding, and the house worked for us. But, it was a bit dated; for instance, the bathtub was chipping. Up stairs had 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, which was within the one bedroom. This meant the people in the other bedroom had to either go through thebedroom where people were sleeping to get to the bathroom, or go downstairs. So, it was awkward.

We love this house because it has such great character and fun unique features that have been preserved very well. Original woodwork and hardwood floors. Original texture wallpaper as well as beautiful glass door knobs.

What makes this property unique

This property has an open room off the kitchen that could be used as a meeting room if people want to have a corporate retreat or a bridal shower. It can be set up with chairs and tables that would easily seat 25-30 people. We have a projector system that is WiFi accessible for presentations.
