Castro is a small town located along the eastern coast of the Salento peninsula. It boasts ancient origins, tracing its roots back to the Roman Castrum Minerve due to the presence of a temple dedicated to Minerva; this discovery confirms the Salento town as the landing place of Aeneas. Since 2013, it has received the Blue Flag award every year for its clean, crystal-clear sea.In addition, our guests can enjoy local food and music events, as well as cultural events, the archaeological museum exhibition, and a visit to the marvellous Zinzulusa Cave—the only Italian karst site among the world’s top ten deemed worthy of protection (KWI).
