About this property

Willowgarth House, Great Smeaton, Yorkshire Dales

A beautiful Grade II listed country retreat sleeping up to twelve guests across three floors, Willowgarth House boasts gorgeous decor and an array of little luxuries, including a fantastic courtyard with seating area, barbecue and large hot tub. Situated next door to the homeowner, and located in the original grounds of Great Smeaton Manor, just a twelve minute drive from the popular market town of Northallerton, this hideaway is an excellent base to explore both the North Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors National Parks.

Comprising of the original water tower and stables, this stunning property offers rural views from almost every room all year round. Willowgarth House is the perfect choice for family and friends looking for a stylish abode to meet up and spend quality time together, with ample space for anyone who prefers little peace away from the group.

Upon entering the tall gates to the driveway leading you past the paddocks and through the woodland, you approach the imposing water tower and parking area on your right. Awaiting your arrival, the impressive well-equipped farmhouse kitchen sets the scene, with a four-oven Aga and large island with cupboards housing Emma Bridgewater crockery. The huge dining table and chairs take centre stage - relax and tuck into a wonderful meal after a day exploring all North Yorkshire has to offer. Furthermore, guests can retire to the light and airy sitting room; a wonderful room where everyone can be together. Indulge in your competitive side and take to the games room for a spot of pool or table football.

Willowgarth House sleeps up to twelve guests in six beautiful, spacious bedrooms. Four bedrooms (two king-size, a double and a twin) are located on the first floor, and are accessed by either taking the spiral staircase from the games room, or the main staircase from the internal hallway. Two further bedrooms (a king-size and a twin) are nestled in the water tower on the second floor. Almost every bedroom benefits from luxurious en suite facilities with either a roll-top bath or walk-in shower. The en suites have been beautifully decorated using traditional patterns and soft colours.

Outside there are many options to explore. With comfortable outside seating for twelve guest, the internal courtyard hosts a charcoal barbecue and fantastic hot tub. And for an added touch of luxury, bathrobes, slippers and extra towels are provided during your stay. A large lawn is situated to the front of the house, and be sure to wander down to the private garden with a pond and summer house. (Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times in this area). Further afield, take a walk along the lane into Great Smeaton to The Black Blull Inn for a bite to eat, or a short drive to the Beeswing in East Cowton which serves a wonderful Sunday lunch.

Willowgarth House is the prefect hideaway within easy reach of many places to explore. You are within easy reach of picturesque Yorkshire Dale villages, such as Wensleydale or Swaledale, and still within half an hour of the east coast. Fish and chips are a must at Saltburn before following the coast route to Whitby.
