About this property
Entire House in Sandwich with perfect views
Exquisitely decorated mews cottage overlooking the river and Oast House. Just three minutes' walk to the centre of Sandwich, and a short beautiful walk to the station and London. It is an upside down house with views of a 'famous' rose tree and flowery patio and upstairs is light, triple aspect and spacious.
Although modern in places, it is steeped in history with oyster shells on the front of the house dating back to the 16th century. It is reputed to have originally been a potato store. It edges 'the Rope Walk' where ropes were stretched for the ships. Transformed in both 1940 and 1980 and was completely refurbished in 2020. It has a rather unusual layout offering 2 large bedrooms and a third library area. The second bedroom is accessed through the third double bedroom space and there is also no ceiling in that area! There is also a sofa bed in the lounge area. There are two bathrooms with shower and loo downstairs (one with bath and one en-suite bathroom with loo and excellent shower). There is a third loo upstairs with washing machine and dryer. The living space is spacious and overlooks the river and Oast house and many trees including its own huge walnut tree. The kitchen is open-plan and was designed by an ex-restaurant chef so it is the most pleasant kitchen to cook in. The whole house flows and offers peace and beauty. Outside is a patio area where you can sit on comfortable chairs and eat al fresco.
There is a utility room upstairs which is a good size and the outside overlooks a wonderful rose tree.
There is parking for one vehicle at the house, however if you have more vehicles, you can park a minute's walk away in the Guildhall Car park. Alternatively, a residents' parking permits can be obtained with prior notice, but parking is not expensive on a daily rate.
The sea and golf course are seriously easy to reach by foot (20/30 mins) or bike (ten mins) or car- (five mins).
