The property features, two bedrooms, two separate bathrooms, a large open plan living space as well as a spacious garden.

The Space:
Located in a hidden corner of what was originally part of the Estate of the Low Wood / Casterton school, made famous by the well known novelists and poets, The Bronte Sisters. This spacious property has been recently renovated and styled to provide a perfect holiday home for families and couples alike.

The property benefits from its own private parking which leads down a few steps to the properties glazed entrance, which has plenty of space for storing walking boots and perhaps a couple of bicycles.

The Hall leads into a generous open plan living room with a super comfy corner sofa, perfect for those relaxed evenings in, as well as a cosy dining area and practical kitchen with everything one would need for a light breakfast or gourmet meal. The Kitchen door leads onto a large patio space with comfortable sofa seating, a great spot for morning coffee!

The two bedrooms are off the main hall, with the master suite benefiting from a a cosy desk space (if you have to do some home working whilst on holiday) as well as its own ensuite and separate door also leading to the patio.

The second bedroom has the bathroom directly next door so is ideally for two couples looking for a weekend retreat.

Guest Access:
Guest's are able to use the whole property throughout their stay - private parking is also available for up to two vehicles.

The Neighborhood:
The property is a mere 10 minutes from the M6 and is surrounded by many areas of interest. The bustling market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is only a mile and half away with supermarket, chemist, choice of very good pubs and restaurants and also a wide range of boutique shops. In warmer weather there is nothing better than a picnic by the River Lune and a stroll along the banks of the river towards Devil’s Bridge, infamous for motorcyclists, walkers and cyclists.

Ingleton with the White Scar Caves and Waterfalls Trail can be reached in 10 minutes by car. The opposite direction offers Kendal, the Gateway to The Lakes and Windermere.

Casterton Golf Club and Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club are both within easy reach and minutes away with their excellent courses.

The local pub, The Pheasant Inn, is just a two minute walk away, serving excellent food along with a great beer garden, perfect for summer evenings.

Getting Around:
The property is in a rural location yet moments away by car from the popular market town of Kirkby Lonsdale. The nearest train station is Oxenholme and is approximately a 20 minute taxi ride away.

Other Things to Note:
The site dates back to the early 1800’s when Cowan Bridge School / The Clergy Daughters’ School relocated to the site more recently known as Casterton School. The building became accommodation for the pupils of Casterton School prior to a recent merger with Sedbergh School.

In 1824, Charlotte Brontë and her sisters attended Cowan Bridge School, known as The Clergy Daughters' School.
In 1832, the school relocated to Casterton which offered a larger Estate.
In 1921, this school merged with the neighbouring Low Wood School, becoming known as Casterton Independent Boarding School. The old Low Wood School was renamed Brontë House in commemoration.

In the book Jane Eyre of 1847, Charlotte Brontë depicts her own time at Cowan Bridge by naming it Low wood. As mentioned, the Casterton School was formed in 1921 and the old Low Wood School was renamed Brontë House to commemorate the Brontë Sisters.
