Pretty stone house with panoramic views from the new pool and house

Come and relax in this beautiful stone house perched up high so you can enjoy magnificent views from the house and pool. It is situated on a country road in Baleyssagues and within walking distance of Duras with all the amenities there. The pool is brand new with an attractive terrace so you can bathe and sit and marvel at the surrounding countryside that has vines, plum trees and sunflowers galore. The house is spacious and comfortable and well equipped for a great holiday in the sunshine. Large living room with views from every window and just step out of the main double door and you are on the terrace which wraps around the house and leads to the pool. There are two kitchen areas with a barbeque for outdoor dining on the terrace overlooking the countryside.

There are lots of local walks and places to cycle as well as places to visit by car or train. Bordeaux is about an hour away, Bergerac is about 30 minutes away and the bastide towns are well worth a visit. You can walk into Duras and enjoy a weekly produce market throughout the year and a weekly night market in July and August where you can sample delicious food and drink. A visit to the Chateau in Duras is a must. Visit the vineyards to try the wide variety of wine produced in this area. St Emilion is only 30 minutes away. There are golf courses locally including the Chateau des Vigiers Golf course which is only 13 miles away. You can canoe on the local Dropt river and there are tennis courts in Duras.

Great views!

We had a great 2 week stay at this house in Baleyssagues in August ‘23. We are a family of 5, including three children, aged 7 and under. The pool is great and kept us all entertained, while the house is well equipped with all necessary cooking bits, dishwasher, washing machine, Weber bbq, bath/shower and separate shower, and lots of towels, etc. There is also a TV with satellite to get BBC and ITV channels -helpful in the evenings for the kids. The views from the house across towards Duras and beyond are fantastic; the French countryside is magnifique! And the starry night sky on a clear night is also stunning. Location is very good. Duras is a 5 min drive away, or a 10-15 min. cycle ride. Duras has everything you need including a small selection of good restaurants to eat or drink at, a boulangerie for morning pastries, cafe, butchers, pharmacy and carrefour supermarche. There is a weekly night market on a Thursday (great fun) with lots of stalls offering different types of food, while the day market is on a Monday, starting early and running throughout the morning. There is also a castle to visit which had falconry and jousting displays on. The hosts, Jenny and Ray, were very helpful. They answered all queries promptly, and were on hand for assistance and suggestions. Overall, it was a great 2 week stay and we’d definitely consider staying here again.

We live by the sea in the UK and wanted to have a rural place in France and Baleyssagues is perfect for that. It is in the countryside yet near to Duras and other places. We enjoy walking, playing tennis, cycling and visiting vineyards and towns including Bergerac and Bordeaux. We enjoy hosting because we love helping people to enjoy this beautiful area of France. Our house is comfortable with a newly built pool and terrace and people love the views.

Why they chose this property

We have always loved France and enjoyed many family holidays in different areas. We decided to buy a property and the Lot et Garonne was our favourite area as it has beautiful countryside, amazing towns and villages, so much history and you can get to the coast within two hours - what more could you want.

Our stone house has character and stands up high which makes the most of the views across to Duras and beyond. Our house has the best of both worlds - being in the countryside yet you can walk to Duras in 30 minutes and enjoy the cafes and restaurants as well as it's history with the Chateau.
