Tucked away in the Laurel Highlands Mountains, Yough Mountain House sits on 10 acres of land, one mile from the Youghiogheny River, two miles away from the small town of Confluence, and 2 1/2 miles from the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail. Our custom built home is well equipped and clean. The open floor plan in the kitchen/living area and large deck with grill provide a wonderful place to socialize. The house has many windows and a beautiful view of Sweet Run Hollow Creek which runs alongside the entire stretch of property that lies amongst a ten acre lot. Yough Mountain House can accommodate between 2-8 people. We have 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, and a pull-out sleeper sofa. The master bedroom has a king sized bed and full bath including a jacuzzi tub and a beautifully designed, separate standing glass encased shower. The second and third bedrooms have queen sized beds and share a separate full sized bathroom. Without leaving our property you can enjoy the natural beauty of the area while relaxing on our spacious deck, which includes a patio set, hot tub and grill. The Yough Mountain House has beautiful views during all four distinct seasons and is in close proximity to various events that occur throughout the year.

We had a blast! Brandy is on it and great! The propane ran out on one of the tanks and she had the company there in a snap! Very pretty place. Just beware my phone service wasn’t great but she has a phone that she called immediately. The one thing that bothered me was well water which has NOTHING to do with Brandy! I still showered
YMH was a good location for doing activities in Ohiopyle and the general area including Fallingwater and Laurel Caverns. The town of Confluence had limited resources and restaurants but enough to manage the week. YMH was clean and comfortable. The kitchen had all the necessary basics but if you plan to cook meals you might need to bring special tools or pans. The hot tub was enjoyable. Brandy was attentive and quick to respond to the many questions I had leading up to our visit. The Dollar General in town is like a grocery store but without the produce section. They also have ice and a propane tank exchange. Overall I recommend YMH for a nice getaway in that area.
The Mountain House was a wonderful place to stay for two nights with my partner and our service dog. The house had everything listed (and even more!) and would be a perfect size for a larger group, since it includes three bedrooms. The ensuite bathroom in the main bedroom was amazing, it even had a small jacuzzi tub!Overall, we loved our stay. Communication with the host was smooth and very kind. A few helpful tips for future guests: most stores in downtown Confluence only accept cash, and we weren’t able to withdraw money from the available ATMs, so make sure to bring cash with you. Also, phone service wasn’t available in the area, so it’s a good idea to download maps in advance. One interesting thing about the area is that the water has a high content of iron and probably sulfur, which gives it a yellow/orange tint and a not so pleasant smell, but it’s expected for the region, so don’t forget to bring drinking water! On the bright side, the WiFi worked perfectly, which was great since we both had remote work to do.Finally, the house is only about 20 minutes from Ohiopyle town and state park, which we visited both days, highly recommended! Last but not least, we had the chance to meet the lovely sweet cat that lives outside the house which was definitely a plus!
It was the peace & quiet that we needed to decompress from busy schedules. Listening to the creek added to the scerenity. The home was clean, spacious & comfortable. There were deer in the yard, fish in the creek & an occasional woodchuck. We didn't have the pleasure of meeting Luna, the cat, though. The hot tub was clean & hip with the wifi hook up playing tunes in its speakers. Very Awesome!! The owner was very attentive, checking in to see if we needed anything & that everything was to our satisfaction. Certainly recommend for anyone wanting to get a break from "peopling".
My husband and I stayed here 2 nights for our anniversary. Overall we were happy with our stay. The jetted tub in the master bathroom was awesome and stargazing at night by the fire was incredible! The town of Confluence is very close, but almost all shops close around 6 or 7 pm; except the dollar general.
My wife and I had a great time. We were only an hour from home but it felt like a million miles because of how peaceful it was. No cell service but good internet so not completely disconnected from the kids. We are definitely going to stay again.
The Mountain House was perfect! Location felt secluded but not too far from local attractions, house was bigger than just the 2 of us needed but felt homey and comfortable. Hot tub was great and Miss Luna was the icing on the cake! Brandi was a great host- super responsive and really welcoming! Would love to come stay again!

Quiet and clean. Spacious. Lovely area.
We enjoyed our time there. Loved the birds, fireflies, hot tub, the quiet and proximity to hiking, rafting, Fallingwater, etc. The cooking tools and flatware are a hit or miss
assortment, but we could make due. No major problems at all.
Had an absolutely wonderful experience at this fabulous mountain house! Brandy was very responsive when needed. Luna the outside cat was a great hostess lol she was absolutely precious! The hot tub and jacuzzi tub we're both so relaxing! I will be making another reservation soon! 🤗
Had a nice weekend away with friends in this mountain house. Plenty of space for us to gather and then have room to ourselves. We ended up buying water from a store nearby, the sulfuric smell from the well water was too much. Bathrooms and bedrooms were clean and well-maintained, though we found evidence of mice in the main living space. Lady Luna was charming and sweet, staying close by whenever we were outside enjoying the yard.
This is a nice homey place to stay for a regional experience. We enjoyed the autumn color change from the deck. The hot tub is private enough since there is little traffic on the mountain road. The master suite is spacious . The cat is friendly and offered 2 chipmunks. The yard is spacious for kids to play, or adults. There is a fire ring for campfire. Bring your own wood. Verizon had poor connection, but the Wi-Fi is good. In winter, this might be hard to access without a truck. Definitely ask, if that is your hope.
We had a great weekend during our stay at the Youth House. Upon our arrival, Lady Luna was waiting for us at the end of the driveway. We loved her, made me feel more at home, having a furry friend around! We were gone during the days, hiking at Ohiopyle State Park, visiting the Flight 93 Memorial, and some of the local covered bridges. The house is very cute inside and plenty of room throughout.. The king bed was pretty comfy and I slept well. There are only 2 things that we would make some kind suggestions for improving at some point...the living room seating isn't comfortable, not an issue for us, as we had a beautiful weekend and weren't there 24/7. The other thing that would be a nice addition, is some privacy panels for the hot tub. The hot tub faces the main road, and detracts a bit from the overall ambiance! Overall, we had a wonderful weekend, and would return if we visit the area again!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disliked: Location, listing accuracy
Atrocious Cabin
When you walk in it smells immediately like must & mildew from the cabin being locked up and moist
No drinkable water (well water, high in iron)
Fridge wouldn’t make ice
House was 81 degrees the entire time we were there.
Wifi was absolutely atrocious so we were cut off from the entire world basically while we were there because there is (No Service) there.
And after we checked out she tried to charge myself & brother another $400 for a room we didn’t use. And a hot tub the was missing some water. Then said we made the hot tub dirty even though the water was already green when we got there & we have pictures and video to prove that. Book this cabin at your own risk. It’s a scam.
We had an amazing week here on vacation! Visited Fallingwaters, the falls, natural water slide, and river. We spent most of our time relaxing at the house and in the hot tub. The Yough house is tucked away in nature in the most peaceful place. And Brandy, the owner, is awesome. We would definitely stay here again and plan to in the near future. Thank you!
We enjoyed our stay in this nice well-appointed home near the Great Allegany Passage trail just outside of Confluence PA. The owner was very communicative and helpful. However, we felt the home was a little dated and in need of better maintained kitchen appliances and cookware.
We had a great stay here for a long weekend. Brandy was very responsive in helping us troubleshoot the hot tub. The house was clean and fit all six of us very comfortably. Definitely recommend staying here!
We stayed the night after a day on Yough Lake. The house was perfect to accommodate 4 adults and 2 children.

About the host
Hosted by Brandy I. Freese
My name is Brandy I. Freese. I grew up in the Confluence area my entire life. I am a full-time special education teacher and live approximately two miles away from the house.
Why they chose this property
I first purchased this property from my grandfather in 2006. I wanted to buy this land because it was the place that I lived with my parents when I was first born. Built in 2009, I lived in the home for 8 years, until I moved and changed it to the Yough Mountain House of May 2017.
What makes this property unique
Only 2 miles from the town of Confluence and 9 miles from the town of Ohiopyle, Yough Mountain House has all the ammenties one would want/need from home. With an ample amount of outdoor space, Yough Mountain house is the perfect place for small or large group gatherings.
What made me fall in Love with my home was the beautiful views and the peaceful setting.
