Big apartment with great location.
Wonderful Italy was a great host who answered all our questions and helped us out when needed! The apartment is big with a great location in Ortigia, also not too far from the rest of Syracuse! There is a dishwasher and a washing machine and everything else you might need. There was only one problem and that was that we didn't get much sleep. There was a building site down the road and they started working somewhere between 05.30 and 06.30 every morning (yes also in the weekend) throwing pieces of heavy trash with a huge bang into a steel container and driving back and forth with their small Caterpillar. There is no sound isolation in these old buildings and the sound bounces back and forth between the stone buildings in the narrow streets. It's like sleeping in a tent in the street. You hear everything! Builders, garbage collectors, the restauranteurs throwing away glass late in the evening, dogs barking, scooters, people talking, you name it. And the bedrooms were towards a "quiet street". There were building sites a bit everywhere in Ortigia so it's easy to be unlucky and I don't think the sound problem is specific to this apartment. I felt I needed to mention it, though.
