About this property
Vineyard Mansion - Emma Room - 1 King Bed
Come relax in the Emma Room at the historic Vineyard Mansion. The namesake for this room is the wife of the original owner, B.R. Vineyard, and we have given her name to our most spacious accommodation.
This room features a gorgeous, king bed, an elegant seating area, fireplace, two closets (including a walk-in), and en suite bath with claw-foot tub and antique, pedestal sink.
The Vineyard Mansion was built in 1890, by the famed architectural firm of Eckel and Mann. Although we would love to have EVERYONE visit this beautiful property, due to the age of the home, the rooms, facilities, and grounds are not wheelchair accessible and may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. Please take this into consideration before booking.
All rooms at the Vineyard Mansion are decorated with period appropriate furnishings and antiques, a seating area, a king or queen bed, and either private access or en suite bath.
Guests enjoy access to the foyer, grounds, parlor with TV, kitchen and dining room.
Breakfast is self-serve, so feel free to go to the kitchen any time you want. We stock breakfast items and coffee in the food pantry off the kitchen, please help yourself. We stock yogurt, juices, eggs, cheese, almond milk, etc. in the refrigerator so please don’t be shy and help yourself. If you would like to make yourself a special breakfast by-all-means do so. We try to create a home away from home with the way we do things here, so if you want to make dinner or cookies go right ahead.
For your convenience, we have a live-in property manager/host available to answer questions, offer suggestions for area attractions, and provide some history about the property.
The Vineyard Mansion is situated within the Museum Hill Historic District, an area of St. Joseph well-known for it's stunning Victorian-era homes.
Additionally, the property is within walking distance of multiple restaurants, bars, museums, and parks.
The Vineyard Mansion is located with-in walking distance of the history downtown St Joseph close to restaurants, bars, breweries, live theater, shops, coffee bars and more.

The home was so beautiful and truly loved the room, furnishings and peaceful atmosphere. Loved that I could go downstairs to the beautiful kitchen and make myself a cup of tea and get breakfast whenever I wanted in the morning. I hope to stay here again!

The stay was fantastic, felt like I came home just walking in the front door, reminded me of a time better spent on conversation over social media. Absolutely loved the accommodations, there was not one thing I could think of that was not available. I will definitely be coming back
Exactly as advertised. And we got the bonus of visiting with Root Beer, the former-stray Siamese cat that has adopted the Vineyard Mansion as his home. A much nicer experience than staying in a hotel room - we'll be back!
This was our second stay and it was as great as the first. A most unique property that you can wander thru, it's like staying in a museum. The kitchen is amazingly well stocked with everything/anything you'd need for breakfast and snacks. Wonderful addition to the stay. Do yourself a favor, book a room here, book dinner at the JC Wyatt House 4 blocks away and spend the evening experiencing old school St Joe elegance.
Used this place to be within walking distance of the new distillery. It was fine.

One night stay
Stayed on a Sunday night, didn't see a single person. Essentially had the whole place to ourselves. Home does show its age, but is a nice older 'victorian' style. Loved the rug and the tile in the bathroom. Would have liked to have known there was cats in the home.

Owner used my phone on file to text the door code. Felt like I was getting scammed cause i called the property manager and was informed that the code is only received via text. Was able to get the code through the app messager finally and was confused why the owner didn’t send the code through the app like every one else does. Once i got the code, everything was all good and had a great stay. Lovely property and room.
Great property. Beautiful and quaint. Check in was easy and self serve breakfast was convenient. Linens, towels and bedding were high quality and very comfortable. Stayed one night.
We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home! We were in the Emma Room. It has a king size super comfy bed and a huge ensuite bathroom. I absolutely loved the rug on the bathroom floor! It was neat to walk around downstairs and look at all the furniture pieces. The kitchen is stocked for you to make breakfast in the morning and have coffee. I liked that there are no TVs in the room. The TV is located in the living room but we chose not to watch anything. We enjoyed a drink on the porch and it was so peaceful. We definitely recommend staying here!
We enjoyed our stay at the Vineyard Mansion. It was quiet and relaxing and just as described. We had no issues with anything. We felt welcome and enjoyed our conversation with the owner. Room was comfortable and well furnished with period pieces. Enjoyed reading one of the books provided in the room as well Thanks so much Jason!
Stayed for a short business trip. Much better than staying in a traditional hotel.

Step Back in Time
The home was beautiful! Granted there is mass amounts to yet be done but as a comparison to the rest of the neighborhood the house was probably in need of a lot of care when purchased. Lots of history in the area and we enjoyed walking the neighborhood and even followed the home tour map provided.
The bedroom was set in the age of the home. A king size bed that was comfortable. Though the lack of curtains made for early mornings which worked out well. Coffee on the front porch and a very friendly cat made the early wakening worth it.
...and a wonderful experience. The restoration of this property is beautifully done and amazingly well appointed to the era. It makes for a very unique stay. Property manager and owner are very easy to communicate with and very accommodating. Access to the kitchen was easy and it was stocked with a wide array of items to make your own breakfast, including fresh baked cinnamon rolls (and chocolate chip cookies the night before). We highly recommend it unless you prefer sterile looking hotel rooms.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Vineyard Mansion & Carriage House.
My hubby & I stayed in the spacious Emma room, and my Sisters and other Family members rented the remaining rooms so we had the entire Mansion & Carriage House all to ourselves.
You just can’t get this type of Historic beauty & charm at a hotel. I highly recommend this property.
Thank you Jason and Marcena!
We enjoyed exploring the house and the neighborhood. The walking guide to the neighborhood was very helpful. It is a very old house, and it was fun to consider what the walls could tell if they could talk. We're glad that we chose to stay.
The Carriage House was a cozy, fantastic place to stay. Everything we needed to make our stay pleasant was there. The gardens were a delight and a perfect spot for our little dog to roam. I spent one night in the Emma room and it was elegant and made me feel so pampered. The entire mansion was fantastic. Jason has the perfect eye when it comes to furnishings. Right in the middle of the historic district. Will certainly stay here again when I am in this area.
Only negative on this property is that there is a lot of stairs. But the host and hostess were great as was the property.
