Maison Hittos is a comfortable and spacious Bearnaise farmhouse with a pool and spectacular mountain views. Set in 2.5 acres of garden, surrounded by the Béarn des Gaves countryside, it is situated just a short drive between the two beautiful towns of Sauveterre and Salies-de-Bearn. It is an ideal base to explore the Pyrénées-Atlantiques region whilst unwinding in a quiet and idyllic rural setting. Ample accommodation is spread across the main farmhouse and attached converted barn.
The space
The property is spread across the main farmhouse and attached converted barn, allowing for some privacy for multiple families or a separate space for teens. The main house has a full kitchen and the converted barn a kitchenette, both enjoying a shared utility room.
The main farmhouse offers a fully equipped kitchen, 2 king bedrooms and twin room, all en suite, plus a large open lounge and dining space with wood burner for the cooler winter months. The attached converted barn offers a larger family sitting room, a lounge/kitchenette with games cupboard, a double bedroom ensuite and 2 twin rooms with a shared bathroom.
Bed linen throughout the property is 100% white cotton satine with 100% cotton slate bath sheets, hand towels and face cloths. Beach towels and picnic blankets are available for all guests.
A generous swimming pool sits alongside the house and, along with the entire property, benefits from the spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and Pyrenean mountains. There are many areas around the house to enjoy the views or a spot of yoga, quiet shady areas by the neighbouring fields and orchard and several patio areas by the pool and gardens.
This is a wonderfully quiet base to enjoy the full Pyrénées-Atlantiques region. Just 45 minutes from Biarritz Airport, 50 minutes form the surfing hotspot Hossegor and around 70-80 minutes to the Pyrénéen ski resorts or Gourette and La Pierre St. Martin and Issarbe. A day trip to Pamplona and San Sebastian is also achievable.
Guest access
The whole house will be open for guests to enjoy. There is plenty of parking for multiple cars at the end of the drive next to the main house.
Other things to note
Please note that there is a small garden pond with fish surrounded by a fence. We don't recommend pets as there are also areas of the property which are not fenced. We also want to advise that as the house is built on an incline, there are many steps in and around the property so we feel that regrettably it would not be suitable for wheelchair users or those with mobility challenges.
