The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, typically on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, however, we would recommend checking the exact date ahead of placing your booking. This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Whilst many visitors enjoy the colour and vibrancy associated with the fairs, other visitors prefer to avoid Stow on these dates

Great base for exploring the Cotswolds

The Old Workshop is in the town, close to eateries and lovely independent shops. It is ideal for 2 people. and has everything you need ; whatever the weather for a pleasant stay. My only criticism is the grubby uncomfortable sofa.

The property was really warm and comfy, and immaculately presented/cleaned. The location was brilliant too, right in the centre of Stow but without any traffic noise. Would love to come back for a second visit.

Short break in the Cotswolds

The apartment was spacious and well equipped. Beds were comfy and parking was easy in the square at Stow. Will come again. We put TV on once but it went off every 3 minutes! Don’t know why.

Beautiful Property in Amazing Location

This property is located in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold square, within walking distance to everything. The inside was Cotswold charming, with modern finishes. Would highly recommend this property to anyone staying in Stow.

Excellent Stay!

Apartment was clean, cosy, modern but with character, and great location in the middle of town. Beds big and super comfy, though sofa in the lounge was a bit of a squeeze!

Lovely stay fully equipped kitchen brilliant location only downside there was stight damp in both bedrooms causing a feeling of damp in the bed linen there was also damp in the bathroom

Perfect location

Lovely ground floor flat right in the middle of the town. It was really cool inside during the heat of the day because of it’s location, but I asked for fans for the bedroom because I didn’t know that until I arrived, and they were provided for us by the owners. Everything you need for a weeks break is there.

Everything was perfect

The whole process in renting from Stay Cotswold - from the initial booking to our departure from our property - was effortless. My family and I stayed at the Old Workshop in the Market Square at Stow on The Wold for the Cheltenham Festival. The location, comfort, cleanliness and value for money was exemplary and I can thoroughly recommend both this property and Stay Cotswold if you have a small family and are considering a short stay in Stow.

Short Stay.

Lovely property for the two of us in great location. Handy parking outside to unload but overnight parking a distance away if your not good at walking far. Place was spotlessly clean. The four for comfort is only that the settee was a bit firm for our liking but that's a personal thing.

Great Place and Location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Old Workshop. We missed the first welcome email (probably ended up in junk inbox). So, we had a bit of trouble finding the place at first, but once it was resent, the place was a breeze! It’s furnished adorably and well-equipped. The location cannot be beat. We would definitely come back and highly recommend it.

Affordable and comfortable

A small quaint accommodation with adequate resources (tea, cleaning products etc). The decor is a little tired through wear and tear (stains on kettle and carpets). The beams are beautiful and the facilities are good quality. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the showers and baths in good working order. A super place re parking and accessibility to the town. We had no neighbours so it was extremely quiet. Would return...

Actual apartment is lovely. TV would only work with Netflix. Internet then with four people was not very good. It also didn't reach round all the rooms very well. The other people staying above had 2 dogs which you could hear every step and run they did up and down the apartment as the floors must be solid and not at all insulated. Area is nice for couples but in hindsight not for families. So if your a couple then the venue and the surrounding bars and restaurants are great.

Superb Accommodation

I stayed at The Old Workshop for the second year in succession, as my base for the Cheltenham Festival. It's a perfect place for 1-3 people to use. It's comfortable, clean, easily accessed and has just the right facilities for a party of this size to be bathed, well fed and rested prior to four days of watching your punts tail off at the back of the field at Prestbury Park. Of course, Stow On The Wold is also a great place to get away from the whirling madness of Cheltenham in Festival week - so tick that box too, in fact with the heat being very much on Gloucestershire and it's rip-off pricing and practises during Festival Week, it is so refreshing to see an amenity that bucks this trend and gives exceptional value for money.

Very comfortable apartment in great location

We enjoyed our stay in The Old Workshop. As there were only two of us, we had plenty of space. The kitchen was well stocked with all the dishes we needed. Washer/dryer worked well. There was plenty of hot water and the provided towels were huge and fluffy. The location was excellent with plenty of great restaurants and the food co-op very close by, as was the bus stop and tourist information center. The welcome book was full of useful information. It was easy to park in the town center for loading and unloading.

Perfect central location for Stow on the Wold

What a perfect place to stay. Immaculate and homely. Beds felt like sinking into marshmallows. Peaceful retreat with everything you could need. We took our elderly dad and the location was perfect and only one step into the property. Cafes shops and bars within a few minutes walk . A few flies in courtyard was the only negative but think it was due to weather. And fly traps were plentiful. Umberella was useful some days.

Short break

Unable to sleep in the twin bedroom due to the noise from the heating system which is located in the wardrobe. A fire in the sitting room would be nice even if it was only an electric fire.

A great, very central, Stow-on-the-Wold stay.

The Old Workshop is a great little two bedroom property at the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold, very central, good location. The property is a great conversion, nicely done, two bedroom, two bathroom property. We had a few small snagging issues, but they can be managed easily. One thing, as the property is a conversion of an old property, and with no damp proofing, there was a musty smell, strong at times, but this could be remedied by a humidifier or plug-ins or similar, this is probably less of an issue in drier months. BUT, this would not stop us recommending the place as a great venue to stay.

Wonderful Property Better Customer Service

This property is every bit as good as the photos and previous reviews, situated right in the centre of Stow on the Wold, and surrounded by quality eateries and some fantastic shops and galleries. The quality of even the linen and towels were of the highest quality. Now to the customer service, Stay Cotswold were professional and helpful throughout, having vacated the property at the end of our stay, and upon arriving home I discovered I had left my wallet behind, a simple phone call to them was all it took, their housekeeping team ( Cotswolds Property Services Limited) found my wallet and are returning it by registered post and signed for, at no cost to me, will be looking to rebook with them again.

Good central position

Strange damp smell in living/dining room. Not enough space for 4 people to comfortably watch TV. Boiler in twin room very close to the bed head! and makes humming sound at 4 00am and 5am disturbing sleep. No hooks for coats etc. Soap holder needed in shower in twin room. Unable to close bathroom door in double bedroom.

Wounderful house BUT…

The cottage is beautifull, very tipical and romantic, with a warm and comfortable furniture, to be in the center of Stow-on-the-Wold is Great BUT unfortunately there was an unbearable musty smell. Especially in the double bedroom, which being without a window cannot be ventilated. It has been hard to sleep there smelling the bad smell. To be honest, it would be worth pointing out in the description that a room is without windows and it would be recommended to install a dehumidifier.
