The Lindsay House – don’t look anywhere else for THE best accommodation in Stirling.
The Lindsay House – don’t look anywhere else for THE best accommodation in Stirling.
Everything about this property was spot on, starting from the booking process and property management, through to the very high standard of accommodation. We had 12 nights over Christmas, and this property made our stay really special.
Standout features – cleanliness, booking process, quality of interior, personal touches upon arrival (welcome gifts), and to top it off, there were Christmas decorations put up for our stay. Another great highlight is the location - walking distance to the town centre, and no need for a car. We were able to catch the train to both Edinburgh and Glasgow in less than 15minutes walk. And, even with being so close to town the area is quiet and private. Thank you to the team at Stirling Self Catering

Short stay of a couple of days in November 2025
It was a wonderful surprise when we arrived there! The apartment was spacious and very tidy. The kitchen was very well equipped and we even had some food and beverage to start our stay. Everything was very well organized with the customer service first and then the guide and explanations on the house. The Director Kirsteen was very helpful.
We would definitely recommend Lindsay House (very close to the center of Stirling too). A warm welcome in Scotland as usual! What a nice country and people you have!

To be this close to the city but this quiet and to have access to a conservatory and private garden, is very special. We will be back.

Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you on your next vacation with Stirling Self Catering.
We were very pleased with the accommodations at The Lindsay House. Two couples stayed for four nights to end a seventeen day trip, and this place was perfect. The master bath was spectacular. The shower in the guest bath was a little tight, but the rest of the place made up for it. Being in a garden area, we did find a few spiders inside, but that is to be expected. We really appreciated the kitchen which had a fully functioning washer and dryer. The host graciously supplied us with some provisions for breakfast which was a pleasant surprise and much appreciated. The bed were comfortable which allowed for solid sleep. The location was nice as we were able to walk to town and dinner reservations.

Very nice rental in Stirling with everything you would need. We loved our stay there and would come back again for sure. Only suggestion would be to upgrade the sofa and chair in the TV room to be a bit more comfortable. Thank you for sharing your home with us !

Another wonderful stay at The Lindsay House
We cannot say enough about our stay at The Lindsay House! My daughter is a student at the University and I visit twice each year. For the last two years, I have booked at The Lindsay House and it always exceeds our expectations. The Lindsay House is extremely clean and generously stocked. The linens are immaculate and high quality. The living room is spacious and comfortable with a beautiful view of the garden. The Lindsay House is conveniently located and we enjoy walking all over Stirling. We truly don't have a single suggestion for how any part of our stay could be better. We are deeply appreciative to the owners and property manager for going above and beyond to make The Lindsay House a home away from home!

Excellent location
Lovely apartment. Very clean and superbly equipped. Location excellent with several really good restaurants nearby. If we had one criticism it was the small step leading out of the hall. Very difficult to spot especially for my 90 year old mother. I know you mention it in the welcome pack, but I really think you need to put hazard tape down, or change the colour of the carpet at that point. My mother did have a fall, fortunately no damage done.
Response from VrboOwner on 14 Oct 2023
Many thanks for your review. I am glad to hear you particularly enjoyed the convenient location of the Lindsay House.
I am sorry to hear that your Mother-in-law had a fall in the property. I investigated the rechargeable light above the "watch your step sign" warning sign we have in place at the property and, unfortunately, I noticed that it was not working. It has now been fully charged and is operational again.
We have also taken measures to make the step more visible and have put in a more prominent 'Caution - mind the step ' sign and also put down some 'Watch your step' hazard floor tape.
Even with the highest expectations, The Lindsay House exceeds in every way! There are so many things to say about this beautiful home away from home. It is incredibly clean, comfortable in every way (beds and linens are high quality), thoughtfully decorated, generously stocked in ways I've not previously experienced in a vacation property, has charming gardens and a lovely porch, convenient location that allows for walking to many areas of Stirling, beautiful kitchen and bathrooms, well-maintained and clean appliances...the list goes on and on. The directions for check-in, care, and use of the home and suggestions for enjoying Stirling are robust and generous. And, I cannot say enough about the property manager's kindness, patience, and availability for our questions and requests for help. Thank you, Carole, for the warmest of welcomes with fresh flowers and a few appreciated necessities in the refrigerator. I really cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at the Lindsay House! Our daughter is a student at University of Stirling and we will always choose Lindsay Houseb for our visits.

THE VERY BEST OF THE BEST
Wow, wow, WOW ... what a wonderful apartment. The only reason I have given a 5 Star review is because there's no facility to give it a 10 Star review!!
We were welcomed with fresh flowers, milk, bread, juice and croissants. Large rooms with tall ceilings, the apartment oozes character in a clearly upmarket area. Exceptionally clean, comfortable, warm and spacious, the apartment is perfectly situated for the town (5 mins walk), the railway station (7 mins walk) and all the delights Stirling, as the gateway to Scotland, has to offer. The apartment also offers a relaxing conservatory and a secluded, enclosed private garden, perfect for enjoying morning coffee and those croissants.
We took the train to Edinburgh one day (45 mins), next day to Glasgow (20 mins). We took the Stirling sightseeing tour bus another day, stopping at the castle, a 'must' for interest and history. Lots of great shopping and restaurants in Stirling, neighbours and locals were all delightful.
Everything was beyond perfect. Can't wait to return.

Practically perfect in every way!
Our recent stay at the Lindsay House was phenomenal. We walked in to a beautifully designed unit with every amenity at our fingertips. It was clear that exceptional thought had gone into the planning of the space from outlets with usb ports to games in the cabinets to goodies on the counter (incredible after a long flight from the states!). There were hair dryers, massive closets and storage, extra blankets, tea bags, recent travel guides, every cooking utensil you could want, AND beautiful weather! Having thought of everything else, I wouldn't be surprised if the owners had some kind of hand in that as well!
My son said that the bed felt like a marshmallow and I'd have to agree. I'm generally not a fan of rain-head showers but this one had plenty of pressure and I liked that the mirror could be lit at a touch without having to turn on the main lights. (The kids got a kick out of the infinite colors to "decorate" the bathroom.) A really nice touch was the ability to shut the door to the bedroom area from the living room and kitchen so we could enjoy a glass of wine and tv after the kids went down without waking them - something that is always a concern when traveling in unknown spaces.
Speaking of spaces, the sunroom was delightful. The views onto the very private, beautifully landscaped garden were a real treat. Since we got such great weather, we were able to enjoy the outdoor seating as well. (I'm pretty sure we made use of all lounging areas.) I don't know if we were allowed to eat the apples from the tree but the kids pulled a few and nibbled on them (note: the novelty is the draw, not the taste).
Though we had rented a car for the trip, we took advantage of the location on several days. It was so easy to walk into town for a morning coffee and croissant. We toured the Stirling jail on our 2nd day in town (highly recommended) and delighted in the curvy roads and sweet, independent shops. While no food really blew us away while we were there, it was easy to order pickup from any number of restaurants. This brings me to the only amenity missing from the Lindsay House: ketchup. My barbaric American children wouldn't go for vinegar on their fries/chips so we collected ketchup packets when we were out. Don't worry; we left a stash behind.
Everything was just perfect during our stay. We've already recommended it to others and we tell them that they have to book far in advance since dates fills up quickly. We feel exceptionally lucky to have stayed here and can't wait to have another Scottish adventure so we can do it all again with the Lindsay House as our home base!

Lovely property, but maybe not accessible for all.
(Son of writing) The Lindsay House is a very well equipped, maintained and presented property to stay in. The rooms are all generously sized and well-furnished in a tastefully neutral style and it suited my elderly parents and I well for five nights. Even for an eighty-odd year old with a stick, Stirling itself is only about a fifteen-minute walk on foot away.
Beware of several aspects of the access: first, it is, essentially, a basement flat – there are two short flights of stone steps down to the entrance from street level, which was manageable for ambulant elderly, but not ideal. Secondly, there is no on-site parking – bays in the street immediately outside are for residents only, although there is one nearby general space on the house side and many on the opposite side of the street, and they were never full during our stay. Stirling Council allows blue badge holders to park free, but anyone else must pay and display. Thirdly, there is a timetabled refuse/ recycling collection and you are expected to put the appropriate bins out on the appropriate day – which means hauling them up the steps; again, not ideal for the less able-bodied.
The kitchen includes a tumble-dryer, but we noticed that only the drum filter was accessible (to clear fluff), the base filter was not, trapped behind the plinth – this may need reviewing by the building managers, for safety.
The bathrooms are nicely done, although only one is ensuite with a bedroom. The underfloor heating in that ensuite was unfathomable. The general bathroom had a very grand freestanding bath, but the shower cubicle was a touch cramped.
No real complaints, perfectly acceptable, well-located flat for a short stay.
Response from VrboOwner on 18 June 2024
Thank you for your review and for rating the property 5/5. I would like to address a few points for clarity:
Property Type: The property is a garden flat, not a basement flat. This distinction is evident in the photographs on our website. There are no subterranean rooms, and most rooms feature garden-level, east-facing windows.
Parking: We do not advertise the property as having on-site parking. Like many town centre properties, it offers on-street Pay and Display parking, which is plentiful and available directly in front of the property.
Bin Uplift: While bins must be brought up the stone steps for collection, a quick message to the property manager would have resolved any difficulties you encountered.
Kitchen Safety: The kitchen was recently installed by a reputable UK-wide company. If there were any safety issues, they would not have proceeded with the installation. Additionally, numerous safety checks required for our Short Term Licence have been conducted, and no safety concerns have been identified.
Bathroom Accessibility: The property has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of which is ensuite. Therefore, there is effectively a bathroom for each bedroom, with the main bathroom located just down the hall from the second bedroom.
Underfloor Heating: Guests can control the underfloor heating just as they would adjust the heating thermostat. If you had any difficulty with this, a quick message to the property manager would have provided the necessary assistance.
Thank you again for your feedback. We strive to ensure our guests have a comfortable stay and appreciate your comments.
