About this property

Welcome to Savannah Rest

I’m recently widowed after 33 years of marriage. We started this short term rental journey together but now it’s just me. We loved living in Savannah and I will continue calling it home. I also love sharing this romantic city with everyone. I hope we have the opportunity to meet and enjoy each other’s company, but if not, may you’re memorable moments together be cherished forever as I cherish all 33 years of mine, and more to come. From time to time, I’ll be staying in the bedroom off the

This home is a Large 3 bedroom house with large backyard located about 15 to 20 minutes from the historic district and 45 minutes from Tybee Island.

This home is great for families that want to stay together while visiting Savannah. Also great for business trips.

Three TVs are provided for your entertainment, as well as WIFI and sort of games .Backyard parties, events, Family reunions and more are welcomed but please contact me before scheduling any events at the house.

All linens and towels are provided depending on the number of guests, but all beds will be made with two sets of towels and if you need more just let me know.

All beds are queen size except the back bedroom which is a full size. The dining room has an extra also has a full size futon as well for extra guests. the house can sleep 8 comfortably but the extra futon allows for 2 additional guests.

The home is a ranch style, historic Savannah grey brick home with plenty of parking located near a small golf Club and lots of shopping and near by dinning options.

Very quite neighborhood and tree covered backyard. You will have access to all rooms except one which is used for storage.

There is a “Ring” doorbell video on the outside, front door for security purposes and also for your convenience as I can answer the door from my phone in case you get locked out.

The kitchen doesn’t have a traditional stove. But has a 6 burner gas grill, two burner indoor hot plate, large microwave oven, New wave oven and a counter top traditional oven.

You’re welcome to use the laundry room but you’ll need to supply your own detergent and dryer sheets.

Our house rules are located in the living to refer to at your convenience.

I enjoy getting to know my guests, but if you wish not to be bothered that’s fine to.

I don’t charge a pet fee but I do ask that you clean up after your pet.

Loud parties are not allowed, specially late into the evening.

I live on the property part of the year but I usually schedule my stays when there isn’t a booking but sometimes I may lay my head in the bedroom with the lock on it.

Property not as listed
Nice clean property, close to Savannah. The VRBO listing for the peoperty said it had 3 bedrooms with 2 beds in each bedroom which is incorrect. Each bedroom had 1 bed. There was a futon and sleeper sofa. We needed to sleep 7 which we could but the listing said it could sleep up to 12. No way that could have happened. Host was easy to reach and apologetic.would stay again but not with the seven we brought.

Weekend Getaway
My brother goes to school is Savannah so we came to visit. I lived in Savannah my self so I knew Windsor Forest was a great location. The neighborhood was quiet! The house for our needs. The only thing was the cleanliness of the location.. there were stains in the comforters & underwear in the restroom I’m assuming from previous guest. I let our host know about this.

St Patrick’s day weekend
I use Vrbo a lot and have rented a lot of different homes. This home is typical of a home of its age for an older suburb. The backyard is secure and fenced in for a traveling dog. 2 of the mattresses were suitable for adults of a 2 night stay but the 3rd bedroom off of the kitchen is way too soft for adults to get a good night sleep , maybe ok for kids or teenagers.Kitchen was well equipped and the Ac needs a tune up for the kitchen area but the rest of the house was plenty cool.I felt plenty safe in the neighborhood and it seemed fairly quiet .The neighborhood is conveniently located near plenty of grocery and retail.I prefer this home over any hotel when I travel with my kids and dog.I would stay here again .

About the host

I am from a small coal mining town with lots of churches and corn fields. On the advice of a wise Uncle, I decided to serve in the U.S. Army as a combat tanker. Later after arriving in Savannah, I served in the National Guard as a draftsman until I was promoted to Inspector. In the Army Reserves I inspected military facilities along the south east coast.
After completing my service in the military, I put my experience in wrestling to good use by founding the Coastal Wrestling Officials Association and coaching wrestling part-time. There really wasn’t much going on locally with that sport at the time, which is why I decided to contribute.
I can’t say enough good things about the Savannah College of Art and Design which has helped make Savannah what it is today. Both my wife and I have greatly benefited as well. She founded a top-notch interpreting services department at SCAD and I received my master’s degree in architecture.
Co-founding the Young Architects Forum, was truly a fun way to bring together students and professionals in my community where historic architecture is rich with time tested lessons.
Serving on The Historic Site and Monument Committee of Savannah and Chatham County was a challenging but rewarding time in my life that helped me realize the brilliance of General James Oglethorpe’s plan.
Serving on the Architectural Review Committee for The Landings Association was even more challenging but also equally rewarding. I learned the value of a magically designed community that continues to amaze and re-frame my thoughts as I drive over the Skidaway Narrows Bridge and arrive on the island each day.
Leading Q-Place Bible studies in my community is one way of exploring what I believe and why. While my wife would tell you I’m not much of a cook, I did learn how to make huge pots of spaghetti for People Helping People, a ministry for the homeless in Forsyth Park.
