Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
Town: Falkirk is a bustling town set in the Central Lowlands of Scotland, resting between the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. The town is best known for hosting several significant battles throughout history, including the Battle of Falkirk and the Battle of Falkirk Muir, as well as popular tourist attractions such as The Kelpies, a pair of towering horse-head sculptures set within the expansive Helix Park, where visitors can enjoy scenic walking trails, a lagoon, and family-friendly play zones, the Falkirk Wheel—the only rotating boat lift of its kind in the world, offering visitors a fascinating blend of engineering brilliance and scenic canal views—and the Rosebank Distillery. History lovers and TV fans alike can venture to nearby Blackness Castle, a dramatic 15th-century fortress on the Firth of Forth, famously used as a filming location for Outlander. Dining options include The Croft & Creel and Cafe Corvina, while you can stock up on essentials at Morrisons or the M&S Food Hall. A favourite among locals and visitors alike, The Milk Barn is a charming family-run spot offering handcrafted ice cream made on-site, with flavours to suit every taste—including a special range for dogs.
