About this property

Powis East is a piece of Scottish history, built in 1746 nestled in nature

Built in 1746, Powis House Estate offers enchanting self-catered accommodation nestled beneath the Ochil Mountains. Set amidst 9 acres of tranquil gardens and just minutes from Stirling Castle and the historic Battle of Bannockburn site, it’s the perfect base to relax, explore Scotland’s rich heritage, and venture into the Highlands. Conveniently located 30 mins from Glasgow and 40 mins from Edinburgh, Powis House is an ideal retreat for discovering the best of Scotland with friends or family

Powis East is the oldest part of the property, originally built in the 1600s, with low ceilings and stone floor you feel like you're stepping back in time. Powis East has two large King Double rooms, one of which is en suite. A second bathroom upstairs is shared with the two singles room. Downstairs is a large living room with wood burner, leading on to a breakfast room and outside balcony. The shower room, dining cubby and large kitchen with seating and Aga make up the rest of the house with access to a private garden.

A car is necessary to enjoy the beautiful countryside and local history. Powis House is a family home and you are likely to encounter our dogs Bruce and Betty. Betty is loud but friendly.

Wonderful Place to Relax or Use as Base Camp

This is the most interesting location we have stayed due to the age of the home and amount of property. It was like stepping back in time with modern amenities. We used this as our home base to visit Stirling, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. It worked out well. If looking to get away from the business and noise of the city, it would be a good spot to relax and enjoy the property.
