Traditional Beaujolais farmhouse with Private Pool - sleeps 8
Located in the rolling hills of the southern Beaujolais, 25km/ 15 miles from Lyon city centre. This property offers the best of French rural life with easy access to the culture and restaurants of the historic city of Lyon.
Surrounded by vineyards, a charming golden stone farmhouse located in a tranquil rural setting just outside the beautiful village of Charnay (population: c.1000) and just 30 minutes from the culture & restaurants of the city of Lyon.
Set around a secluded courtyard, the house boasts a private pool in a 800m2 garden with views of vineyards and looking up to the village (about 1 km away).
Four large bedrooms allow a comfortable stay for up to eight adults.
The modern kitchen (induction ho; oven; microwave etc.) has easy access for outdoor dining; a large dining table in the covered courtyard allows you to enjoy the long warm summer evenings over a barbecue
The beautiful countryside of the Beaujolais is much loved by the French for its hiking and cycling trails, while those in search of culture can roam the ancient streets of Lyon and discover its beauty and history.

Thank you for your review and we're glad that you appreciated the many good things about the house, pool and location.
I am concerned about the things that were not to your taste as, of course, our hope is that everyone will have a restful and enjoyable break.
Three of the 5 beds and mattresses are actually new (less than 3 years old). It's possible the mattresses were not to your liking, but this is something of a personal choice; the mattresses we have vary from quite soft to quite firm. Your concerns are not ones that have been shared with us by other guests.
It does get hot in the Beaujolais in the summer but the house is designed to stay reasonably cool, with shutters outside and electric fans in each bedroom. As with most houses in France, it's true, there is no air-conditioning.
We review and check the house equipment at the start of each summer season and replace anything damaged or worn out. We still use the capsule coffee machine without any problems although it is, I accept, a fairly basic model. There is also a filter coffee machine. Overall, we're not aware of any problems with the cookware, although we have recently upgraded the frying pan.

After many years living and working in France, along with other international postings, our children are grown and we are currently based in the UK and we rent our former family home for family holidays.
We love the Beaujolais area, a little-known gem often compared with Tuscany (but without the tourists). It's great for walking and cycling as well as, of course, eating and enjoyig the local wines.
