Great kitchen, well equipped. AGA temperatures were not as hot as described on the sheet. Given the size of the property, perhaps a larger kitchen sink and second dishwasher would be beneficial. The house was a bit cold at times, although the kitchen area was fine. Would have been nice to have fuel to light one of the front room open fires. Overall a fab stay and would stay again. Most bala lodges benefit from a hot tub.

Thank you for your review, I am sorry that you were not able to use our fireplaces but our insurance doesn't cover this. However, we do offer the outdoor fire table, that assumes the weather is agreeable.
The photos really don’t do this house justice, it’s stunning and in a beautiful location - across the road from the Lake Bala watersports centre and less than 10min walk into the village high street with shops, pubs and restaurants. We loved every second here, very magical place.
A wonderful and spacious stone house with exceptional facilities especially in the kitchen.
All the bedrooms has comfortable beddings and with enough room for 8 adults and 4 children.
We definitely recommend this house to anyone who wants to visit Bala in North Wales for its facilities and location.
This property exceeded my expectations. The whole house is incredibly grand, comfortable and welcoming. Most important, it's clean and has fresh towels etc. This felt like a luxury retreat at a small Manor House. The views from the front of the house are excellent as you look straight onto the lake, beyond the front gardens and field. During our 3 night stay, we never ate out once as the kitchen had everything we needed to cook some amazing meals of our own, unlike some other homes I have previously rented. Whether you are there with friends, or as we were with Friends and children, this property is a great base to explore Bala and beyond in North Wales. We were able to walk into Town easy, around Bala lake and to the Railway while staying here. If there for longer, we would likely have ventured further out. The Cinema room was well liked by our children to allow us to watch a film in the comfort of our own home instead of paying to go out to pay to use other facilities. I would highly recommend this property and the hosts were very responsive and provide everything that you need to know. 5* property!
This is our second stay at this property and it was once again, everything we wanted. The weather wasn’t great and with children to entertain, a walk across the road and we were in the leisure centre where there’s a great swimming pool plus slide. The house was great for relaxing, the kitchen enormous so all the chefs in the family could work alongside each other as one was outside bbqing. We will be returning again next year, we absolutely love coming to stay. Thank you
What an amazing holiday. We spent a week here with extended family and absolutely loved it. There is more than enough space for everyone and all the rooms were spacious and clean. The kitchen is certainly large enough for us as a family of 11 and it was really nice using the dining space for our evening meals together. The cinema room was an added bonus and we all loved playing the Wii for a bit of retro fun. The location is perfect also, just by the lake. There's certainly enough to do in Bala at the lake with swimming and kayaking and it's in a great position for exploring further afield. We took a trip to Portmeirion, climbed Snowden and enjoyed day trips to the coast. The hosts themselves were super helpful and couldn't have done enough for us. All in all a great break and one which I would highly recommend.
For 5 days, my family of fourteen people aged 1 to 62 comfortably enjoyed their stay at "the castle house" as the four-year old called it. The whole place actually looked nicer in person. The little kids enjoyed the toys in the games and play-room, we played the piano and sang in the lounge area, some watched a little TV. The kitchen was wonderful! People seem to always gather in the kitchen and it held us! The house is walking distance to town where we could buy groceries, or for the older ones, go to the pubs and meet the friendly locals singing Karaoke.
The consensus of all was that it was a great place.
The photographs of the property do not do this house and gardens justice. There were 14 of us staying and it’s the best house we’ve ever stayed in.
The kitchen has everything you need to cook and entertain, with an Aga and separate oven. Seating in the house is plentiful and the grounds are stunning. We could easily walk for dinner into Bala as well as stroll down to the lake. The children had a swim in the leisure centre as the lake is a tad cold in May!
It’s worth every penny to stay here.
Thank you for making us feel so welcomed. We will most certainly be returning.
