About this property

Newly renovated cottage -The Old Post Office

The Old Post Office is set in the picturesque village of Hedley on the Hill, Northumberland. The village lies within South 'Hadrian’s Wall country' and commands spectacular views across the Tyne Valley providing a fantastic base from which to explore Northumberland. Hedley is also home to the ‘The Feathers Inn’, Winner of awards for its food, including British Gastropub of the Year and a Northeast England Tourism Gold Award.

Built in traditional sandstone, The Old Post Office, faces out toward the Tyne Valley. Recently renovated to a very high standard for guests to enjoy, the former farm building has seen many uses over the years. The bright and airy living room, complete with log burner and smart TV, leads through to the kitchen-diner. With feature stone wall and modern fitted kitchen, the property opens up with an additional comfy sitting area looking out onto the South facing garden and patio through bi-folding doors. A few steps down from the patio lies a secure private lawned garden, bordered by Beech hedging and flower planters.

Upstairs, The Old Post Office, hosts two bedrooms with views to the North and South. The master bedroom looks out over the North and is complete with a king size bed, dressing table and walking-in cupboard.
The second bedroom looks over the garden and onto the fields beyond. With a double bed and single bunk above, this bedroom provides a comfy place to rest for both children, young adults or a couple alike.
From both bedrooms the modern stylish bathroom is accessible just off the landing. With a walk-in waterfall shower, this fully tiled bathroom also provides a LED mirror with electric saving point.

To the side of the property, through a timber field gate, lies private off-street parking for guests. From here access to back garden and bike storage can be found. Outdoor furniture can also be found within a timber shed, a short walk from the patio, so as to make the most of the south facing garden on summer days.

Hi, we're Michael and Gina. We're both proud and pleased to offer guests time to stay at 'The Old Post Office', Hedley on the Hill. This fantastic property, in such an exemplary Northumbrian village, has seen many uses over time. Now lovingly renovated, it's a perfect for a variety of up to 5 guests to stay and enjoy.
Hadrians Wall is within easy reach, as are the historic market towns of Hexham and Corbridge, which lie down in the valley from Hedley. The Northumberland International Dark Sky National Park and Kielder Forest aren’t too far away and you can be at the coast in around 40 minutes. We both agree that the Northumbrian coast is a hidden gem with vast amounts of sandy bays and castles. Beamish Living Museum is a popular attraction taking you back in time and is a great experience and is only 8 miles from Hedley.
The property is also ideally placed to also explore the historic and vibrant cities of Newcastle and Durham which are both in easy reach by car, bus or train. There's so much more to explore in Northumberland and we're both happy to provide recommendation and local advice.
