About this space Situated in woodland and fields is a small c18th farm with a beautiful light open-plan Cottage and spectacular views of National Trust Gibside and the Column to Liberty. Wild swimming, cycling and endless walks lie just beyond its gate. One of five dwellings, the Cottage has a private entrance and exclusive use of a small south-facing garden. Night skies are spectacular and often punctuated with calling owls and the rustle of hedgehogs & badgers. Bird spotting and fishing is another delight. The space This semi-detached 18th century stone-built Stable Cottage offers a light and airy open-plan layout with private entrance and guest parking. The space includes under-floor heating, a fully equipped kitchen with dining table for two, electric hob & oven, fridge, microwave, Dualit coffee machine and toaster. The open-plan space has wifi, a laptop friendly workspace, comfortable kingsize or twin-beds with fresh linens, lounge chairs and a separate wetroom with powershower, toilet & sink. Guest access Through the main gates there is a designated parking space a few steps away from the Main Entrance to the rear of the Cottage. A small garden with stunning views has recently been created for guests equipped with table and chairs for outdoor eating and quiet relaxation. Rowlands Gill village is an easy picturesque 20 min walk along the Derwent Line and there are regular buses into Newcastle from the A696 at the top of the lane. Other things to note We are happy to host ONE pet including small/medium size dog. In exceptional circumstances we will consider an additional pet for a supplementary fee. In addition we offer a dog walking service (charges apply). Pets must be kept on lead in the shared areas of the farm and we ask that pets are kept off the furniture and linens. On fine days the chickens and ducks will be roaming and we have a friendly cat and cockerpoo. There are 3 bee hives located on the farm.

Lovely quiet location with excellent walking from the door in the Derwent river valley. Very welcoming and helpful host. Dog friendly with lovely garden.
The sweeping views of the Derwent Valley complete with a few rare Red Kites sighted on high was a highlight. Our host Deborah was charming, knowledgeable and so helpful. Truly a holiday to remember with the lovely Forest walks throughout the valley and the cozy comfortable Gardener’s Cottage to relax in!
We had a lovely stay despite my husband being unwell.Deborah was wonderful when the TV stopped working. Normally this would not be a problem when on holidays but as my husband was sick we were using the TV more than usual. She went out of her way to make us comfortable. It’s a lovely cottage in a lovely part of the world. Would definitely recommend staying here. The cottage is lovely
