A dales bolthole & quintessential country cottage – cosy, appealing & in an idyllic rural setting
Set back off a quiet road in the quaint village of Grinton, only a short hop, skip and a jump from one of the area’s most popular pubs is Rose Cottage – a one-bedroom dog friendly holiday home overlooking farm fields to the rear and opposite a gorgeous babbling beck.
This dales bolthole is your quintessential country cottage – cosy, appealing and in an idyllic rural setting. With the bonus of modern conveniences such as economy 7 storage heating, superfast broadband and a 32” flat screen TV with FreeSat.
Access to the cottage is via the front door into a good size reception room including a dining table that seats 4 and a real flame gas stove. Off to the left, up a couple of steps, is the living room with original, exposed beams and views looking down towards the village. The sofa also converts into a sofa bed for 2 people if required. To the right of the reception room is the kitchen which is compact but fully equipped. There is also a shower room with w.c. and basin.
The bright and airy double bedroom is on the first floor, with large sash windows and neutral décor. Next door to the bedroom is the very spacious bathroom with a window overlooking the fields behind, a perfect space to relax in some bubbles after a long hard hike.
Outside the cottage there is an attractive garden and patio area with iron garden furniture for enjoying dining alfresco or enjoying a morning coffee or a glass of vino of an evening. Allocated parking is available for 1 car, further parking is available but on a first come first served basis.
Grinton really is an ideal location to explore the Yorkshire Dales, standing proud in the heart of the village is St Andrews Church, the Cathedral of the Dale, as well as The Bridge Inn offering good food, well-kept ales and a great wine selection. The market town of Leyburn is easily accessed over a wonderful moorland drive called Grinton Moor. Leyburn has many amenities including pubs, cafes, giftshops, butchers and grocery stores. The Georgian town of Richmond is also within easy access, and only a 20-minute drive away with an ancient castle, historic Georgian theatre, a choice of cafes and several restaurants and takeaways.
Directly from the door the area is full of footpaths and bridleways to explore either by foot or on bike. The Dales Bike Centre is also down the road and offers bike hire and guided rides should you wish to explore the very best of the local trails. Or perhaps you just want to visit their Cakery for a delicious cake.
A short mile walk from the cottage is the popular village of Reeth. Here you’ll find 3 more pubs, a hotel with bar and restaurant, numerous cafes, two bakeries, gift shops, a photo gallery, a museum, and post office.

Perfect setting
This cottage is set in the perfect location to explore this part of Yorkshire. However the property needs updating in the kitchen and bathroom to reach an acceptable standard!!

Thank you for your feedback – we really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
As mentioned during your stay, the kitchen and bathroom are scheduled for a full refit in November this year, which we're very much looking forward to. The current pricing reflects that the refurbishment hasn’t yet been completed.
We're glad you enjoyed the location – it's a beautiful part of Yorkshire – and we hope to welcome you back once the updates are in place!
All the best, Hannah
Great location and lovely cottage. Very comfortable. It has been perfect for my needs. If I could suggest any improvement, it would be to change the upstairs bathroom matting as it’s looking discoloured and dirty. This is the second time I’ve stayed here and I will definitely be back
