The Family Funhouse isn't just for little kids. We now have a media room downstairs, perfect for those anti-social teenagers who think family vacations are laaaame. They can watch movies or bring their favorite game console and connect with the supplied HDMI cable. This should keep them happy for at lease a few minutes!

Great outdoor living spaces include a spacious fenced-in back yard with a built-in playground for the kids to run free. 2 swings under the deck to relax and watch the kids play. There is a stone fire pit in the center of the yard for cozy mountain evenings of roasting marshmallows and good conversation. Feel free to pick from the apple and pear tree in the late summer and fall. The apples are great for baking apple pies!

Inside you'll find a fully stocked, spacious kitchen. The bright, cozy living area has an L-shaped couch, fast Wifi, 55" smart Roku TV (with Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, etc), Nest Thermostat, Echo Dot (Alexa) for music, games and more. The stone fire place is a lovely added touch, but we are not allowing guests to have indoor fires at this time.

Traveling with young kids? We have 2, and we understand how difficult and stressful it can be to travel with children! We have basically created the vacation house we wish we could find for our trips. This means our house will offer plenty for your little ones to stay occupied. Games, blocks, play kitchen, dollhouse and more will be available for the kids. Night lights are installed throughout the house to help the little ones feel more comfortable at night when they wake up in an unfamiliar place. We also have things like a Pack-N-Play, high-chair, Bumbo, bouncer, play mat, sound machine, kids utensils, sippy cups, etc. Just let us know what you need to be comfy here. We will do what we can!

The 3 bedrooms(King, Queen & Full) are all equipped with luggage racks, super comfy beds, fresh linens, pillows, towels, washcloths, hangers, palm leaf ceiling fans and a few other unique added touches.


Guest access:

Our guests will have the entire upstairs main living area as pictured in the listing, as well as the downstairs basement living area with foosball, table and chairs which leads to the media room, laundry room and private office and lounge. While you do have the whole house to yourself, there are other non-accessible rooms in the basement that we currently use for storage. You will also have full access to everything seen in the photos, the front yard and fenced back yard, porch and deck. Parking for guests will be on the paved driveway.


Interaction with guests:

We are always available and respond quickly to messages through the VRBO message system throughout your stay. Feel free to text or call in case of emergency. If you need suggestions on places to go, we have the inside scoop on restaurants, breweries, cafes, music venues, unique gift shops, local art galleries, amazing hikes, river access, adventure tours, AVL event calendars & more. Just let us know what kind of experience you're looking for and we will happily point you in the right direction. We love hosting and helping our guests!


Other things to note:

We previously had a cat, dog and 5 chickens on the property. The house has now been animal free since October 2018.
