Property was good and Owner was amazing. Outside cleaning can be improved.
The doors left open while checkin. So we are not sure whether somebody was inside also we dont have mobile signal so could not communicate with property owner.
we were very disappointed and unhappy with our stay few items listed are.. not cleaned kitchen unclean refrigerator sink making a horrible noise. unusable microwave, filthy stove burners and oven, uncovered outlets and exposed lite switch and electric boxes, unsafe steps. spider webs and spiders everywhere in broken lite covers, tremendous amount of flys probably due to full trash cans by back porch door. open holes in Ceiling broken and filthy barbaque broken windows unkept Yard with broken down appliances .. the safety and cleanliness and unuseable appliances are very concerning.these are a few things. were not young and our health is not good we saved a long time for this vacation and it was anything but relaxing . Host heatily told me we got a great deal but I ask you at what expence? We have been enjoying this rental company a long time and this is Frist terrible encounter. Stayed 7 nights in Oct 2022
Response from VrboOwner on 26 Oct 2022
Wow! Where do we begin. First of all, the listing of "grievances" is full of exaggeration and hyperbole. The guests before and after gave the property a 5. We met this couple the first night of their stay and told them if there were any issues to let us know. We pointed out the house we were staying in next door. They had our phone number. They had our email address. They had VRBO messaging. They saw us out in the yard the entire week of their stay and they
DIDN'T SAY ONE WORD. On the last day, she said she was unhappy and requested a refund. It literally felt like a shakedown. She said she uses VRBO often and I wonder if she has tried this trick on other VRBO owners. We had one other guest who tried this a few years back and after some research, we discovered this was their modus operandi. We suspect this couple does the same. We would not rent to this couple again and we would warn anyone considering renting to them to be wary. Btw, she has not has not one, but TWO emotional support poodles. We allowed her to bring them even though we don't usually allow animals and discovered they are full sized poodles. If they had left early, we probably would have refunded a portion of their payments, but she waited till the end of her stay to say something. If she had issues with the property and it was so horrible, why did she subject herself to the horror and stay all 7 nights? The whole thing reeks of dishonesty. We told her to contact VRBO if she wanted to file a complaint. Again, beware if this couple is attempting to rent from you.
Great communication from the owner. The property is an older property with to a of charm and character. The check in and out process was easy. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks guys!!
We stayed here on the way home from a big road trip with our kids. It was like staying at Grandma’s house when you were a kid. It was an older home, but very homey. The owner swung by to make sure everything was okay for us. And told us how to contact him if we needed anything. Very friendly.
We enjoyed our stay. Could use a bigger T.V. but everything we needed was there. Nice to come home and take a shower and do some BBQ'n after being at the lake all day. better than livin in a tent. Thanks agin the stay was very nice
This was a great little place to stay while visiting the nearby National Parks. We really enjoyed ourselves and the host was extremely conscientious and pleasant. We would stay again if in the area.
This house reminded me of my summer family cottage style vacations when I was a kid. We would definitely stay here again. The surrounding yard is huge and there's a nice picnic setup just outside the kitchen door. The neighborhood was wonderfully quiet, and the house is far enough from US Hwy. 89 that the noise of infrequent passing trucks was hardly noticeable. We slept great here! 100X better than a motel at the same price!
We had an amazing weekend ice fishing and each day we got to come home to this quaint little property. If you're looking for luxury, this may not be your place but it is quiet, clean, and has everything you need for a great stay. They go above and beyond with stocking the property with the things you will need. Owners are friendly and check in to make sure everything is going well. This home fits the quiet little town perfectly!
Feels like visiting grandmas house in this cute vintage home
My adult sisters and I stayed overnight on our way to another destination, and it was such a cute, roomy home. Clean, big yard, cute rustic shed on the side yard. Right on the Main Street. It is an older home, so expect older furnishings and fixtures. I personally think the aged furniture added to its charm. The owner is kind and accommodating and lives nearby. Take a walk through this small town and enjoy the historic buildings and homes. We took a walk to the gas station for a soda and admired the old trucks with built in houses on top at the south end of town. We really enjoyed our time.
We picked this property because we didn’t want to stay in a hotel, and they we are accommodating and allowed us to bring our dog. It also had plenty of beds for our five children and room to lounge and eat. The big yard was fun and spacious enough for the kids to play with our dog. It had all the other basic stuff we needed for our stay.
It is centrally located between big rock Candy Mountain, Paiute Lake, and Butch Cassidy‘s café, where we ate several meals. The price is very affordable. Don’t expect five stars here, but if you don’t mind a cozy experience like staying with your aunt Rose, then it’s fine. 😍
Andy grew up in the Salt Lake valley but spent many summers in this valley with his Grandfather's family, he loves the area and has many fond memories. This home was owned by his parents when he was born, then sold but years later his mother bought it back. It was the gathering place for many family reunions and outings. In 2000, She sold it to Andy and Camille, hoping they would revere it as she had and keep it in the family. Camille grew up in So. Utah in an area that is now surrounded by the Grand Staircase Monument. She enjoys spending summer days here to get away from the Las Vegas heat, where they live.
Why they chose this property
This home has been in our family for many years, Andy's grandfather settled in this valley many years ago, farmed, herded sheep and raised cattle. Andy's parents purchased this house after they were married and we purchased it from them after we were married. It has been added to and renovated many times, most recently in 2017. Some of the original lath and plaster still hides within the walls. Our children have learned to work in the process of remodeling, adding on, painting, and designing this space. Many family memories reside here, and now many new guests have added to those memories.
What makes this property unique
Some of our guests have found tranquility, healing, rejuvenation and family bonding within the walls of this rustic old home; others have found it a restful home base, a place to come back to after the diverse adventures Southern Utah offers, like a day fishing at Otter Creek, exploring Bryce Canyon, Big Rock Candy Mountain, ATV trails or the Mystic Hot springs; or taking longer explorative drives through the circle road of Highway 12 to see Escalante, Grand Staircase monument, Calf Creek falls, Boulder and Boulder Mountain, Capitol Reef to name a few. Nights are dark if the romantic moon isn’t shining; stars are visible and might shoot across the sky, and crickets and birds offer a serenade.
