The house is beautiful. The layout worked out great for our family since we have older kids. It would not be advised for families with younger children. The kitchen is spacious and extremely well stocked. We loved all the birds, squirrels and tree frogs around the house. The only real complaint is the two queen sized beds listed do not seem to be queen sized. I think they might be full xl sized. The bed size made it hard to get a comfortable nights sleep. Overall our family enjoyed the house.
House is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Furnishings are danish modern, made for ease of cleaning, not for comfort. Beds listed as Queen are actually full size. Very well equipped kitchen. Bring your own laundry and dish detergent, soap, shampoo, and spices. Beaches are a short drive away. Lots of room inside. Key was left outside at rental agency for us to pick up. Keypad entry would be a great improvement. As pictured, house has lots of stairs. Wi-Fi doesn’t reach all rooms, no cell service (with att). We had a great time on the island, would love for the house to have been better managed. I called ACP with a few questions a week ahead of our stay during normal business hours, reached the answering service, never got a call back. (There were storms and flooding that week.)

Thank you for choosing Bough House for a quiet getaway. We're glad you enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen and spacious interiors. We'll review the bed size descriptions for accuracy. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused by our phone lines being down before your stay, and we appreciate your understanding. Thank you for your suggestions as well we've explored the option of a keyless entry pad, but unfortunately, the main door's narrow size poses a challenge & being on an Island our choices are unfortunately limited in terms of available Wi-Fi options.
Despite these hiccups, we're pleased you had a great time on the island. We hope to welcome you back in the future with an even better experience.

This was definitely a new experience for us - from the style of the house to the setting and furnishings. Loved the spacious rooms, FABULOUSLY supplied kitchen and appliances, and great porch area! Would have liked a king sized bed (my hubby is a big man!), more comfortable furniture in the den, and although we had to park our boat on the street, it worked being in a quiet area. Overall we had a great stay!
This property has more than enough space for 8 people not to feel cramped up together. It’s very clean and stocked with every kitchen gadget you need for a great week at the beach.
We enjoyed our stay, it’s great for 2 families as you share leaving space but have private bed and bathrooms. The multiple windows and tall trees makes you feel like you are in the forest.
Great time with out of town family. We had teenagers, toddlers, couples and single adults and everyone enjoyed themselves. I usually frequent Gulf Shores for vacation but Dauphin Island was a breath of fresh air and we will definitely be back.
This was a perfect stay. I originally had family going but because of a storm warning everyone except I decided to cancel. The sounds are amazing and it is hidden behind the dunes which was perfect.
we arrived and the property was confusing on the layout. family will be split so beware if you have young children. main bed is on 2nd floor along with the lr, dr, laundry. and main bedroom and an extra bedroom futon/study. other 2 bedrooms are on first floor where only beds and bath are. main floor is on second floor. this would not be suitable for younger children. main entrance would be the floor with only 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. scary for little kids.
so layout was kind of strange. but worked okay with us. since my mom and 17 yr old daughter stayed on the first floor. no problems for us. might be for others with small children or if you have sneaky teenagers.
rain came while we were there some of the island was flooded . this house was shin deep under the house and across the property. so get ready to wade the water to get to your vehicle. whole propery was under water. barely could figure out the driveway to get in and out. we had a truck so it was tolerable for us. but every exit for 3-4 days was wading through water to get to the truck.
wouldn't stay here again but we made the best of it while we were on vacation. at least we were all together and plenty of rest.
If you're a bird lover, the Audoban sanctuary is nearby, and part of it with a swamp is right at the end of this drive. Beautiful, modern house with huge windows into the woods.
The Bough House is absolutely stunning! We found plenty of space to relax, play games, and read. The house is beautifully appointed with fine furnishings and art from the Modern Period, while at the same time being very welcoming and comfortable. The kitchen is fully-equipped for all the cooking a visitor would want to do. The house is ideally sited among large pine trees, with an exquisite and unexpected view of the setting sun. The beach is easily accessible. We hope to return soon!
We had a wonderful week in this condo. It had more than expected for accommodations. The view was wonderful. We had 2 days of ac problems however I called ACP and they had someone out to fix it quickly. Great company to rent from as well as a perfect condo.

Great House - ACP realty, not so much
The house is great. Well appointed - we were impressed in particular with all the kitchen supplies (dishware, cookware, etc.). There are a lot of stairs to traverse getting in/out of the house - but it has plenty of parking, and is maybe 10 min drive to the beach. The beach was really nice too - if you aren't familiar with Dauphin Island, it's got nice beaches. It doesn't have much to offer in terms of restaurants (or groceries) though. There were a few roaches in the house too - just a few, but they were big.
Check in was kind of weird, in that we had to arrive specifically between 3 & 4 pm to pick up the key from the ACP office. It was really nearby, but since we were driving from Texas it was a bit of a concern to make sure we hit that 1 hour window. Fortunately traffic/construction/weather cooperated and we arrived on schedule - it's definitely way less convenient that the typical code or key box situation at rental properties. The 10am checkout was pretty early too, as most are 11am or noon, but that wasn't a problem.
The last thing though, regarding ACP, was quite irritating. They submitted a very small charge to my card almost 2 weeks after the trip was completed (I paid in full prior to the rental, approximately 60x more than the extra charge that showed up). Then when I pointed out the error, they argued that a previous refund for over-payment was an outstanding balance... and charged the payment without contacting me first. When I reminded them that it was a line item showing refund and not an outstanding balance - and also threatened to dispute through Chase & file a formal complaint with the FTC - then they finally agreed. But not without a passive aggressive reply to imply I was petty for demanding the small correction. I already paid exponentially more for 2 nights - adding an extra tiny charge two weeks later without any correspondence is what's petty - and simply bad business practice in all reality.
So, despite the fact that we really liked the house I won't be back. I'll visit Dauphin Island again for sure, but I won't give my business to ACP.
Better than expected. Quiet, clean and spacious home. The only issue we had was the lower floor AC went out a couple days before we left and was still out when we left. Still giving this stay and home 5 stars. Can't wait to come back.
Cleanest rental ever! Very accommodating! Hope to return someday soon.

Very relaxing stay on Dauphin Island
The Bough House was a perfect choice for our family vacation at the Island this summer. Plenty of space for our family of 6; amenities galore and a comfortable, relaxing space for all of us to enjoy our laid back time on vacation. Thank you for hosting us at such a beautiful place!
