Very nice cottage. Close to South Bend, only down side to it is no cable TV and no internet. Not completely the worst thing but was a little inconvenient. Accommodations were great and it is quiet. Would rent there again.
Our family had a really lovely long-weekend getaway in his cozy little home. While it snowed 3-5 inches each day outside, we parked it in front of the fireplace and didn't do much other than relax and get the occasional pizza from Black Cat Lanes. The home is small, but the space is very well-utilized, with what appears to be a recent update to the interior. No wifi, but we were able to get great cell coverage (t-mobile towers). Small TV and DVD player were enough for some family movie nights next to the wood-burning fireplace. No oven, washer, or dryer, but we did fine without. Really cozy in the winter; and in spitting distance of a large lake that I imagine would be buzzing with activity in the summer. Oh, and I should mention that Jackie was incredibly detailed in her communication and clearly a very welcoming, generous soul. All in all, highly recommended if OK without some of the typical electronics/appliances -- but, we, for one, plan to visit again.

So glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for being great guests. I look forward to being your host again!
Stayed at the cottage for 2 nights . A bucket list trip to watch Notre Dame Football game. Great !!!
The home was nice and comfortable… it served our purpose well. The price was reasonably and the owner answered all my questions. I would and am hoping to stay there again in the future. 👍
House was wonderful for our 2 day stay. Lake was great to see and everything in house was perfect. Thank you to owner who gave us ideas for area! Already looking at next year to stay again!
We were in New Carlisle for a family wedding. The cottage was a great location for being a gathering place between events and real close to other activities
We came into town for a house warming party as a group of 6 we were having trouble finding somewhere that we can stay together being a home game weekend hotels were booked and way over priced. This was perfect. We just needed a place to sleep at night and I found myself not wanting to leave this little cottage. The pictures don't do this cute cottage justice, I was surprised at how much space there actually was compared to what I pictured. The bedding was soft and had that fresh laundered scent that I love. Plenty of towels on hand. Booking and check in was super easy. The property manager or owner was wonderful and gave me all kinds of information. Thanks for the lovely stay.

Thank you for the lovely review and I'm so happy you enjoyed the house. I would love to host you and your guests again at Gram's cottage anytime.
We attended a wedding at the golf course in New Carlisle. Some other friends have houses on Hudson lake so this location worked out perfectly for us. Was able to walk to Monroe’s for breakfast, a little over a mile. Property was clean, cozy, and comfortable. We had a great time.
I stayed on this property with a few of my friends and we couldn’t have been happier! It’s so quiet outside, and very clean inside. We loved the loft and that we also had two private bedrooms. The bathroom was stocked with towels and other little necessities you may have forgotten.
The beach was a short drive away, not even 5 minutes. It’s a cute small beach, but I would recommend swim shoes since it is rocky.
The people are so incredibly nice! We drove out and parked on a side road to see some stars since we are from the city, and someone called us a tow truck. We didn’t need it but how thoughtful!
Personally I love the smell of bonfires and hay so I enjoyed being outside. Also the neighbors have cats and a cute little one would come sit in the yard. Be prepared for mosquitoes!
Not having WiFi turned out to be great (no worries if you aren’t into that, we had no issues with 5g service!) we were able to connect a few gaming devices that we brought as well. We also loved the DVD collection and had fun blindfolding ourselves and picking a few at random! Would definitely recommend a peaceful stay here!
Nice place for a family! Clean, easy in and out of the house. Bedrooms are good. Owner was great to communicate with. Very informative. Things to note. Home doesn't have dedicated parking (no driveway). This was an issue on 4th of July when a lot of visitors were at the lake! Visitors were double parking beside the house. I had to park around the corner. The home does sleep 7, but that is pretty tight for places to put belongings and sitting around dinning table.

Great 2 Day Escape
My college friends and I (party of 4 total) had a great weekend relaxing, playing yard games and watching DVDs. Golf course within 20 minutes (Briar Leaf I believe) was great for the cost and there is plenty within 15 minutes of the cottage. Grill worked great, A/C was a huge plus and the fire place looked lovely (although we didn't use as it's summer).
Would definitely recommend and will be exploring coming back in the future.

Beautiful little cottage
I stayed with my five grown children. We only had the weekend, and the only problem we had is that we could not stay longer! Everything was super clean and cozy. The house was bright, and the porch perfect for early morning coffee. Lovely place.

About the host
Hosted by Property Manager/Owner
As a lifelong Chicago resident, I hold a deep love for my city, with its vibrant neighborhoods, stunning architecture, and rich cultural tapestry. Yet, I also cherish the moments when I can escape the urban hustle and immerse myself in nature. Hiking and exploring the outdoors are my passions, and I'm fortunate to have some of my favorite getaways just a short drive from home.
One of the greatest joys of my life is sharing these adventures with my amazing daughter. She’s always eager for a new day trip, and together we've discovered countless hidden gems in and around Chicago. Whether it's a serene walk along the lakeshore or a challenging hike through nearby forest preserves, we embrace every moment.
When we venture farther afield, our hearts lead us to Colorado. The majestic mountains and sprawling trails offer us endless hours of hiking and breathtaking views. The crisp mountain air and stunning landscapes provide a perfect backdrop for creating lasting memories.
Having stayed in numerous vacation homes, I've come to appreciate the comfort and amenities that make a trip truly special. As a host, I strive to offer those same welcoming touches, ensuring that my guests feel at home and can fully enjoy their own adventures.
Why they chose this property
In 1971, my grandparents visited a home across the street from this property. My grandmother fell in love with the area and expressed her desire to buy a home there someday. As they were leaving their friend's house, they noticed a "For Sale" sign being placed in the window of a nearby cottage. The rest is history.
The house remained in our family until 11 years ago, when it was sold. By a stroke of luck—or perhaps my grandma's heavenly intervention—I discovered that the house was back on the market. I knew I couldn't let this gem slip away.
Today, I am the proud owner of my grandmother's cherished cottage, a place filled with countless childhood memories.
What makes this property unique
This is a cozy cottage located just across the street from the lake. The lake is visible from all enterances. On colder winter nights you can cozy up to the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate! The home is located perfectly at the end of the dead end which means no cars will be driving past the house. Come sit on your deck, and enjoy yourself.
