Here you’ll find a wide variety of artisanal activities, from cookie-making to woodworking. Today, in addition to the four-arched stone bridge over the Trebbia River, you can visit the Museum of Rural Culture with its extensive collection of artefacts, the Bookbinding Museum, and the Augustinian Sanctuary of Our Lady of Montebruno, dating back to 1496. This village is also part of the Antola Regional Nature Park: one of the most enchanting areas of the Apennines and the Ligurian hinterland, thanks to the extraordinary panoramic views from 1,600 metres on Mount Antola and the activities offered by nearby Lake Brugneto. If you’re not an avid hiker, I recommend wearing (or bringing along) trainers to tackle two short hikes that start near the Sanctuary of Montebruno: the Via Crucis and the Bosco Narrativo. Nearby, you’ll find excellent trattorias and restaurants serving traditional dishes, fine cured meats, cheeses, and—the star of the show—the porcini mushroom, for which the area is well known.
