About this property
Glan Yr Afon - sleeps 5 guests in 3 bedrooms
Church Bay is renowned for having some of the most spectacular sunsets in North Wales. The views from Glan yr Afon are wonderful, not least from its balcony which catches the afternoon and evening sun as it sets over the sea. The whole design of the cottage is aimed at optimising the views, with an upside down layout where the bedrooms are on the ground floor and the living area is upstairs. This is a very pretty corner of Anglesey, with lots of little villages, coves and beaches to explore, including the spectacular strand at Rhosneigr which is famous for its surfing and other watersports.

The Local Area
Located just next to the fabulous Anglesey coastal footpath, Glan yr Afon is a brilliant base for exploring the north section of the island. There are wonderful walks and lots of secluded beaches, many of which are only accessible by foot. Also nearby is Melyn Llynon (Llynon Mill), which is well worth a visit to see one of the last working windmills in Wales, where they also serve some of the finest doughnuts in the country. With the well-known Lobster Pot restaurant on the doorstep and Catch 22 just a short drive away, there are some excellent options for eating out.

We enjoyed our stay at this pretty location with great views over fields and the sea. We loved the balcony and the house was cosy even when we had terrible weather. Well equipped too. We knew the house was” upside down” but I think it worth noting the stairs to the living areas are very steep and narrow for anyone with mobility issues.

A great week in a lovely house
We are a "mature" married couple walking the coastal path, and this is our third visit to Anglesey. We both thought that Glan yr Afon was the best house we've stayed in. It's comfortable, very well designed and in a wonderful position overlooking the coast and countryside. The outside balcony really comes into its own on a sunny evening. We had a meal in the Lobster Pot one evening and enjoyed it immensely, and we also bought some dressed crab from the office around the corner. It was excellent quality and really fresh. Yes, a great week in a lovely house!

Fab property in a fab location!
Glan yr afon is a beautiful property in a beautiful location. Less than 5 minutes walk to the gorgeous church bay, coast path & wavecrest cafe and 10mins walk up the hill to the church bay inn - (great for kids outside & they often seem to have food vans during the summer).
The property had absolutely everything we needed and the view from the balcony is fantastic. We absolutely loved it & would love to stay there again :-)

Glan Yr Afon September 2025
Our 3rd time here, everything was perfect, The cottage, as previously, was excellent, roomy, comfortable and with everything you could need. And, to top the week off, we had virtually a week of sunshine.
The cottage is very convenient for seeing Anglesey, with the wonderful Church Bay 2 minutes walk from the cottage.
Already booked for 2026.
Thank you.

Great 1 week stay
Stayed here at end of May and can honestly say we will definitely return.
House is clean and comfortable, with amazing views from upstairs.
Admittedly this house is quite remote if you are planning on going on day trips to various places of interest. However the peaceful nature of Church Bay more than makes up for this.
Having the beach so close is added bonus.
Lobster pot restaurant right next door. If you visit and love seafood we recommend speaking to the guys at lobster pot seafood on the other side of the cottage and buying yourself some lobster/crab and cooking yourself. Something special about enjoying those views from your balcony while having dinner.

Great weekend away
A party of 4 ladies stayed at the property for a long weekend. The view was fabulous, the house clean and comfortable but there are a few areas that need addressing. The hot tap in the toilet is the wrong way round. The sink in the bathroom takes a long time to drain. The quilts on the single beds are not full single quilts they must be off children’s beds as quite small and would not have been adequate if it was cold.
We toured the area from Church Bay easily. Our favourite place was Moelfre and lunch at Annie’s Pantry. We also visited Trearddur Bay (and saw dolphins )and Rhosneigr.

Lovely place to stay but some issue with the building
Lovely place adjacent to the beach & coastal walks. Beautiful view from the full-width window.
Some concerns.
No information to say there was an unprotected deep ditch yards from the house (we had our 3-year old grandson with us).
No window in main bedroom to open for ventilation - only a full-length sliding window.
No blinds on full-length window upstairs - also window very heavy to open.
Instructions on how to use the cooker would be helpful (+ some cooking tins)
