Beautiful apartment with a friendly, generous host

This is an excellent property across from Frick Park. It's conveniently located to nice restaurants, churches, a French bakery and other amenities. The apartment is beautifully decorated with antiques and the kitchen and bath areas are modernized. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and the real surprise is that the host provided food and drink for personal use. Because this duplex apartment is on a main thoroughfare, be aware that you can park in front for 30 minutes to unload your belongings and then you will drive around the block to park on a side street that is a few houses down from this location.

2nd stay here! lovely!

The property manager takes good care of making sure there are all the things you might need, generous stocked liquor cabinet and a fridge full of juices and mixers. Yogurt, milk, cereal, eggs, coffee, wine, and more! Pasta and sauce, crackers and cheese, snacks, chocolate, what more do you need?! It's nice to not have to find a grocery store just for a few things, it's all there. We also love the Dive Bar just 2 doors down, a lovely walk to lots of great food. Frick park across the street has wonderful trails and a ton of amazing places including Mac Miller's Blue Slide Park!

Home Away From Home

This property was exactly the home away from home we had been hoping for during our visit to Pittsburgh. Jon thought of every detail to make our stay comfortable and welcoming, and this was one of the most thoughtfully-appointed properties we’ve ever stayed in, perfect for a small family gathering or as a home base to explore. The location was convenient for getting around town and easily walkable to Frick Park (across the street) and neighborhood restaurants a short distance away. We will definitely look to stay again when we return to Pittsburgh, and we are grateful for the hospitality.

True Pittsburgh experience

A modernized older house with an authentic Pittsburgh vibe that has the same qualities as the people within the neighborhood. From cabinets, refrigerator to the bar that was very well stocked in a neighborhood that was Pittsburgh through and through with its shops and park just across the street.

As advertised

The property is exactly as advertised. Perfect spot next to a beautiful park and easily walkable restaurants and coffee shops. As everyone else mentioned in other reviews, the property is stocked with just about anything you’d need. Seriously. It was incredible. I’ve never stayed in a m VRBO that was as stocked. Takes a ton of the stress away from traveling!

Great rental but hazardous parking

Host met us upon arrival. Although the rental agreement indicated it was street parking I was not prepared for such a busy road with inadequate parking. We parked next block over on Guthrie… until gas co closed road due to work. Ugh. We were there 8 nights. Great host. No central air in this July heat. Portable units worked well for the rooms they were in. If you are ok with parking on busy streets then you will like this house. Frick Park was nice too

Homey and comfortable and wanting for nothing

Jon is an excellent host. Even though the apartment is on a busy street, we never heard the traffic. The kitchen is stocked with more than enough to sustain getting snowed in which, fortunately, did not happen.

Regent Square Charmer

We had a wonderful stay at Jon’s apartment! He has maintained all of the charm in this large apartment but has updated the kitchen and bath with all the modern amenities. He thoughtfully and generously stocks the fridge with everything you need to make a welcoming cocktail complete with snacks and all the fixings for a hearty breakfast. We took our morning coffee across the street to enjoy Frick Park! We hope Jon’s apartment is available for our next trip to Pittsburgh.

Great apartment!

We were a family of four who stayed in this apartment. Lovely furnishings, small kitchen but stocked with anything you could need or want. Very quiet considering it is on a busy street...cozy and comfortable. An added perk is the owner actually provides drinks, some basic foods, snack and has an open bar for you to enjoy! This is rarely found when renting a property, so we appreciated that! Also, we had to leave one night earlier than planned, and the owner was very gracious and reimbursed us for that last night. We would highly recommend this property and we hope to return again, as we frequent Pittsburgh to visit our daughter.

Second stay at a Pittsburgh home away from home

We had such a wonderful stay at Jon's lovely home last year that we decided to come back again! We were four adults and were very comfortable in the two lovely bedrooms. Jon fully stocked the kitchen, so we didn't even need to do groceries when we first arrived. The apartment is cozy and well-appointed - we're always impressed at all of the thoughtful touches. Frick Park is right across the street, and we enjoyed walking along the trails every day. There isn't dedicated parking, but we never had a problem parking around the corner. Great restaurants and cafes are just down the street, and the location has easy access to I-376. Jon's guide to the apartment has all of the information you need about the apartment and the location to make you feel like a local, even if you've never been to Pittsburgh before.

Hands Down, BEST HomeAway experience to date!

This was a last minute request due to our other plans falling through. Jon was a phenomenal host! Knowing that we were traveling with children and were rather exhausted, he went above and beyond to ensure every detail was taken care of. The house is in excellent condition and very clean. It included everything we may have needed for a comfortable stay. We loved that it is directly across the street from a great park with wonderful walking/biking trails. The area itself is also very pleasant. It's in walking distance to great restaurants as well as Public Transportation options. Jon lives close to this location and we were blessed to run into him and enjoy several conversations while exploring the area. We are eagerly awaiting our next visit to Pittsburgh with the hopes to stay here again.

Best apartment in Pittsburgh!

Jon is an excellent host! We were visiting Pittsburgh to have an early thanksgiving with our son and his friends. We needed a place where we could cook and serve thanksgiving dinner for 6. Jon came over to check on us when we first arrived and showed us how to insert the leaves into the table. The kitchen is small in size but huge in amenities. We had everything we needed to cook our dinner, the only thing we bought was an aluminum roasting pan! The double oven was a great feature for us! This is also the absolutely most well appointed rental I have ever stayed at using home away. Jon has thought of everything! We will definitely stay there again next time we visit Pittsburgh! This place is 5 stars all the way!

The.Best.

In love with this location before I even arrived, but even better in real life. Right across from beautiful Frick Park that has everything from hiking, nature, playgrounds, baseball diamonds, tennis courts and more, right in the middle of all the places we wanted to visit. Easy street parking. Great food/drinks at Dive Bar like 3 houses down (karaoke and trivia nights there too)! Beyond all of that, I can't get enough of old houses: big wooden doors, original hardwood flooring, fancy doorknobs, high ceilings arches, etc. Stained Glass windows and 4 poster bed in main bedroom. Host clearly cares a LOT about every detail...vintage and antique furniture and decor, trinkets, art, treasures...makes you feel truly AT HOME, comfortable, and in need of nothing. FULL super stocked open bar...complete with a fridge full of little bottles of drinks and mixers, lots of them...seltzer water, ginger ale, orange juice, cranberry juice, pineapple juice, etc. There was cereal, milk, frozen entrees, crackers, organic bananas, assorted yogurts, pancake/waffle mix, eggs, even bacon. Condiments. Coffee. Every little kitchen gadget you might need. Let's see...bathroom...big soft towels, plenty of them, stocked medicine cabinet with everything from Tylenol to Imodium AD to antibiotic ointment, q tips, bandaids, hair ties...everything! On top of that SUPER clear instructions on everything from the remote, to the door lock, to anything you might need to know. Host SUPER responsive, fast & friendly!

The Finest Hosting I’ve Ever Experienced

I can’t say enough positive things about this property and host. The details are what made the place special: The kitchen was clean and neatly organized with virtually everything needed to cook and eat comfortably. There wasn’t a dishwasher, but that’s not a big deal for us. The fridge and pantry were stocked with essential items any weary traveler would be delighted to see after a long journey: Half & half for coffee, a few sodas, some cheese, crackers, wine, spices, cooking oil, sugar, etc. The bathroom medicine cabinet had spare toothpaste and other useful sundries. There was a very thorough reference handbook discussing every aspect of the property (lights, climate control, appliances), and offering great suggestions for the Pittsburgh area. The apartment itself is small, but with a compelling charm: Tall ceilings, antique furniture, artwork, stained glass in the bedroom window, and other special touches contribute to its uniquely “homey” feel. All amenities were well-maintained, clean and functional. There was plenty of room in closets and drawers. Something to be aware of is that there’s no dedicated parking. You’ll have to hunt for a space nearby, and the street this house is on can get super busy. Also, you can hear your upstairs neighbors walking around: It’s an old, creaky house. It’s clear that careful thought and attention were given to making sure I had a comfortable stay, and that is appreciated. This is the benchmark all other hosts should aspire to! It was hands down the most welcome I’ve ever felt at any short-term vacation property.
