The village of Carrbridge, situated below the Monadhliath Mountains, is part of the scenic Cairngorms National Park. The River Dulnain snakes its way through this picturesque village before emptying into the River Spey.
Carrbridge and the surrounding area has something to suit all ages and activity levels. Try an amble through the forest, or one of the more strenuous hill walks. For Munro baggers – take your pick. There is a plethora of off-road bike tracks and winter sports are on offer at the Cairngorm ski-resort. Or why not potter around the nearby villages of Grantown-on-Spey or Aviemore, with shops offering a range of quality, bespoke goods.
Aviemore nestles in the heart of The Cairngorms National Park at the head of the Speyside Way and boasts a wonderful range of shops, restaurants and bars. The area also offers a very wide range of outdoor activities including skiing, snowboarding, mountain and quad biking, zip lining, climbing, hill walking plus a variety of watersports on nearby Loch Insh, Loch Morlich and the River Spey, to name just a few of the myriad of activities available. Take a trip on the Cairngorm Mountain Railway, visit the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre, Landmark Centre in Carrbridge or take a trip to the Highland Wildlife Park near Kingussie, all of which are within easy reach. About 12 miles from Kingussie, lies the Ardverikie Estate, which has been the setting for films including the BBC TV’s drama series ’Monarch of the Glen’, as well as the location for movies such as ’The Missionary’ and ’Mrs Brown’.
Another visitor attraction for all the family to enjoy, not far from Kinguissie, is the Highland Folk Museum, which offers an insight into Highland life in a living history setting. All in all, this is a fantastic base for exploring the many delights that this area has to offer, and there is so much to see and do for all ages. Shop, pub and restaurant less than 1 mile.

About the host
Hosted by Jennie Slessor
We built the property in 2024 and started letting it in 2025. We absolutely love this area of the world. Being brought up in the nearby Grantown-on-Spey, this area holds a special place for me and my family. We also have a child with special needs, so bought the property for us to holiday too - it's completely secure and safe for my son, and we hope other families with children find this too. It also has an accessible bedroom and bathroom on ground floor level (there are 3 steps with handrail down to the living area from the kitchen).
We love the area for it's peaceful location and the fact there is so much to do in the surrounding area - there really is something for everyone all year round!
