Disliked: Communication
Positives: the apartment is located in an area of Funchal that is within short walking distance of restaurants and the waterfront. Parking onsite was very useful considering the narrow streets in Funchal.
Negatives: Some observations that may be useful to others looking to book this place
- Hot water was not sufficient for two people. Typically the water would run cold if a second person showers after someone else
- Kitchen does not have an oven, only a microwave
- No washing machine or dryer in the apartment - there is a shared laundry, with two washing machines and one dryer for the whole building
The main problem that we had with the apartment was that the air conditioning (heating) did not work during our stay. I understand that there are things that are not within the control of the apartment manager or owner, but I found their response to be lacking. For the first two nights, their attitude was that we were not using the air conditioning properly. It was only when the owner inspected himself that they acknowledged it was not working. I suggested solutions to address the issue, including provision of a portable plug-in heater, or moving to another apartment in the building. They were unable or unwilling to accommodate this. They provided an extra duvet. Funchal gets quite cold in the evenings, so it was unpleasant to walk around a cold apartment. We requested a partial refund to address the lack of heating but they did not respond to my request.
