About this property
The Red Shed small quiet home 3m Bury St Edmunds
The Red Shed is a unique single storey property, siting within its own private garden. You enter the property through the well appointed, triple aspect kitchen breakfast room which provides seating for 4 people at the antique pine table. The kitchen is well equipped, with fresh & instant coffee, V60 coffee filter, a microwave oven, Fan oven and a great selection of cooking utensils and kitchenware. Fresh eggs (when laying) from the my pet hens, homemade biscuits, milk, sparkling water, a vase of flowers from the garden in spring and summer, plus a decanter of whisky for your nightcap. If you’re staying for a week I’ll provide bread from our local artisan bakery, ‘The Friendly Loaf’.
The sitting room overlooks the garden, and is comfortably furnished with a large sofa, mid century rocking chair, table lamps and reading lamp, a wood burning stove along with a good supply of logs and kindling. There is also a good selection of reading books, a smart HD tv, games and Bluetooth speaker.
The double aspect bedroom is simply furnished, with a King -size iron bed, feather pillows and duvet, linen bedding, bedside tables & charger points, a chest of drawers with hairdryer, coat hooks & hangers. An en-suite walk in shower with hand held, and rain showerheads, basin with a large backlit mirror including phone and toothbrush charger. Bath, and hand towels are provided.
There is plenty of space inside the property, along with an extra, lockable shed outside housing the freezer (ice provided) bikes and muddy boots or anything else you don’t want to take into the living quarters. When the sun shines there are sunny spots in the garden, with outside seating, lovely walks to be had, good cycling locally, and plenty of history in beautiful historic Bury St Edmunds and Lavenham.
Originally built for two young brothers, one a budding scientists and the other Glyn an artist who still lives in the village The Red Shed now provides a completely refurbished single storey accommodation with a unique charm all of its own. It sits in its own private garden with its own parking space and room in the adjacent shed for bikes and muddy boots. The accommodation has been beautifully finished using a relaxing palate and a mix of antique and contemporary fittings and furnishings. From the modern shaker kitchen with dining table for 4, the new wood burning stove to the wonderful ‘walk in’ shower. There’s plenty of space to enjoy a cosy evening in front of the fire or a choice of seating areas throughout the garden for alfresco drinks or supper. The wood-burning stove will keep you cosy in cooler months and you’ll feel happily cocooned in your holiday spot, perhaps with a book or watching a film on telly. When the sun shines there are lovely walks to be had, good cycling, or exploring historic Bury St Edmunds.
The kitchen is small but perfectly formed and you’ll find the fresh eggs are probably from the owners’ chickens, homemade biscuits, milk, sparkling water and a vase of glorious cut flowers from the garden in spring and summer, oh and a bottle of whisky for that ‘just in case’ moment.
Stay for a week and you’ll have loaf of bread from the local artisan bakery too. Your bed is king-size with a wrought iron base and linen.....there are coat hangers for your clothes.
Long summer evenings can be spent in the English country garden, all yours and very restful – perfect for a sundowner or a picnic.
