About this property

Chilterns Farmhouse Hideaway Pass the Keys

Perfectly suited for larger groups seeking a bucolic getaway in the heart of the rolling Chiltern hills. Your stay will be split across two buildings- our historic farmhouse, oozing character from it's ancient structural oak beams and one of the converted vaulted barns, both with large wood-burning stoves. The place is suitable for groups of up to 12, and it's ideal for family or friends gathering who want to experience the rustic charm of a "farm" stay and explore the Chilterns countryside.
The space
Tucked away in the rolling Chiltern Hills, the Farmhouse and Barn are ideally situated for those seeking to get away from the hustle and bustle and explore the beautiful countryside of the Chilterns. The location is rural but the M40 is easily accessible and close to London and Oxford.

The Farmhouse itself originally dates back to 17th Century and still has plenty of it’s original features.
It is a beautifully furnished and large characterful two-bedroom property that sleep 4 guests comfortably. It's separate from The Barn. Steeped in it's original features from 17th Century. Perfect for dining up to 6 guests and unwinding after a long day walking in the Chilterns by the log-burning stove.

The Barn is a wonderfully spacious open converted space, presented and furnished by the owner's artistic and creative eye. It's an ideal place for gatherings, walking or hobby groups.

In both properties, you will notice gorgeous pieces of art painted and curated by the owner.

Both the Farmhouse and the Barn have big log burners that we encourage guests to use and set the ambience for their stay.

The local area is a bird watchers paradise with regular sitings of Red Kites, Kestrals and Buzzards, not to mention the Hoopoe that landed on the farm! (Noted on Bucks Bird Club).

There’s an abundance of wildlife, including deer, badgers, foxes, as well as sightings of hare

We are also an equestion facility and although guests are minded not to feed the horses in the surrounding fields there are always horses nearby to admire.

We are fortunate to have plenty of nearby bridleways and footpaths - worth planning a route on Outdooractive.

West Wycombe famed for the Dashwood Estate and Churchill Shooting ground, the village itself is steeped in history with a pub or three to visit. The walled garden has a beautiful cafe and excellent childrens play facilities, indoor and outdoor. The indoor childrens facility is know as Clara’s Corner.

On the “Farm” we have ample parking available too (if one parks sensibly).
Guest access
Guests have access to both the farmhouse and the Barn in their entirety. The centre courtyard and Stables are out of bounds, but both Farmhouse and Barn have their own garden and patios with beautiful views across the Chilterns.

Some improvements required

There are some fantastic elements to this property and it is an absolutely beautiful setting. The art and decor are really nice and tasteful For the price though there are several things that need improving- the place was not very clean, this was the main negative experience that would prevent me returning- no check-in process was sent to us, or given, making it hard to find the place and work out how to get in- the houses are not connected, which isn't really suitable for kids although we made it work- the owner lives in the middle of the barns (with two dogs) , she seemed lovely but strange experience that her house kind of divides the property you are staying in and you can't access lots of the barn doors as they go to her courtyard- there is one less room than advertised (one of the singles, is just a camp bed in the corridor, making for a terrible night sleep)- some of the kitchen equipment like the trays really need replacing- there are a few windows with no blinds, which meant a few people didn't sleep wel- there is no fence to the adjoining properties but you are not allowed to walk there as it is 'private property' which meant for a bit of a negative experience when wondering around where you thought you were staying and getting told off- could have done with some more basic facilities, like a bbq (although granted not advertised)- I think a 10am checkout is quite stingy personally, makes the morning a real rush but I was aware of that when I booked it!
