Stunning cottage overlooking Holy Loch

I stayed with my parents for a week in Dunbheag Cottage in September. It was simply stunning. The quality of fixtures and fittings were the best I have ever seen in a rental. The property was immaculately clean and had everything you could possibly need for a stay. Comfortable beds and quality bedding too. We were lucky to have a few beautiful days where we could sit on the deck and just watch the boats on the loch. I wanted to explore this part of Scotland but it was hard to tear yourself away from that view!. A fabulous week was had and I would love to return.

Amazing views and cottage

This is a stunning cottage, so well equipped and spotlessly clean. Comfy bed and great showers and the furnishing are of a very high standard. The balcony is simply wonderful and a complete suntrap. The views make it difficult to leave and venture out. They had also cut down a lot of trees just before our visit and the views are now even better than the photos suggest. Simply an amazing place to stay and we cannot wait to return. There is a lot to do and visit in the local area and the cycling and walking is superb. Great local cafes etc nearby too.

A wonderful holiday

A beautiful holiday home right on Loch Holy! The house is newly renovated and leaves nothing to be desired. The surrounding area is beautiful, and there's so much to see and do! If we spend another holiday in this region, we'll definitely stay at Dunbheag Cottage in Strone!

Great relaxing with a view

We were traveling from the US for a Scotland adventure. This was a great place for our base as we took day trips. It was a nice location close to town and had a great view of the Loch. Access to the shore was a bonus. The deck was also nice to be able to hang outside in good weather. We appreciated the folders with local info and the instructions for the appliances. The kitchen had all needed items for us to be able to cook our dinners.

6/10 Okay

Dunbheag Cottage

It was wet and windy when we arrived and while the cottage had an immaculate appearing interior, is was disappointing that it was cold with no heating. When the heating had not come on by the following morning I used the number provided to contact the owner and left a message. I had no response by the evening and still no heating and left another message for the owner. It was the following morning when I got a response from the owner and at last got the heating going. The owner was very apologetic and I was given a refund of about 10% of the total fee for the inconvenience. Access to the beach was through the garden of a large house and the couple were friendly and said 'to go anywhere you liked'. The beach area was lovely and secluded.
Response from VrboOwner on 25 Sept 2025
We were genuinely sorry and disheartened to read your review, as we feel that a 3.2-star rating does not fully reflect the overall quality of the property or the many positive aspects of your stay. We appreciate your kind comments regarding the immaculate interior, the beautiful and secluded beachside location, and the friendliness of the neighbouring owners, all of which contribute to the unique and high standard of the property. We regret the issue with the heating upon your arrival, particularly given the wet and windy weather conditions. While this was an unfortunate inconvenience, the owner responded promptly as soon as she was informed, offered a sincere apology, and provided a refund as a gesture of goodwill. To help ensure quicker responses in future, an additional contact number has now been provided. As the managing agent, we are also always available throughout your stay should any concerns arise, and we encourage guests to reach out so we can assist promptly.
