Amazing location but drive up was a challenge for me.

Stunning location with amazing views of the Sintra national park and the sea. Spacious property very homely, pool & terrace great. Gardens awesome, beds comfy. Slightly musty smell upstairs ( from wood burner?). Neighbours charming and friendly. Would benefit from map marked with trails and location of nearest restaurant.great place to relax and would suit bigger family /group. However the drive up and down wasn’t for the faint hearted!

Remote location with beautiful landscapes

The grounds and landscaping were the best part of this experience. Absolutely wonderful. The drive to access this location is extreme and not for the faint of heart. An address or specific meeting location was never shared, which caused us to go to an incorrect location, 1 plus hours of driving to find this. If you select this place, be sure to have a specific meeting spot to get there. The interior condition is average, most likely what is expected for a European stay off the beating path. The place is roomy and we loved having the wood burning fireplace. Not a luxury stay, but the scenery is amazing!

Do not stay here.I’m saddened to write such a negative review, as the owner seemed kind and mentioned that hosting has been a family tradition for decades. Unfortunately, our experience was so concerning that I feel it’s important to warn others.Misleading ListingThe home is advertised as private, but it is shared with the owner, her husband, and their son. Separate entrances don’t change the fact that it’s one house. The listing also claims it’s 21 minutes from Cascais airport, yet it’s at least 42 minutes away on treacherous mountain roads. A 4x4 is practically required, and one access road is abandoned but still shows on GPS. On day two, we followed it and became stuck on a dangerous path, requiring two tow trucks and causing damage to our rental. When I raised this, the host dismissed it and admitted this happens every year.Condition of the PropertyThe home is over 300 years old and in the family for generations, which sounds charming but in reality means mold. The smell was overwhelming, and both my boyfriend and I developed headaches that lasted until we left. The furniture and rooms are not quaint—just dated and uncomfortable.How Our Booking Was HandledWe booked for 17 days but left after 4. We requested a refund for the unused days, but the host declined. Afterwards, they altered our reservation to 6 days at a higher nightly rate, making it look like we booked shorter and more expensive while relisting the property to rent out again.One of the worst stays
