About the host
Hosted by Claire Carpenter
My name is Claire. I’m a business and lifestyle coach with a passion for living life to the fullest. I’ve called Edinburgh home since 1992, and after three decades here, I’ve discovered the city's best-kept secrets.
As an avid climber and traveller, I now spend much of my time working remotely from my campervan. I’ve designed my home to be a perfect sanctuary for fellow travellers and remote workers alike. I believe in a hosting style built on mutual trust. I invite you to enjoy my personal space as your own "home-from-home." I’m always happy to share my curated "insider" tips on the best local sights and eats that offer incredible value without costing the earth.

Why they chose this property
I fell in love with Portobello (or "Porty" as we locals call it) because it offers a distinct, thriving coastal identity just minutes from the city centre. It is a rare gem where you can enjoy a vibrant neighbourhood atmosphere, diverse historic architecture, and a 2km stretch of sandy beach all in one place.
For me, there is nothing quite like being a stone’s throw from the sea while still being part of such a great, "wee" Scottish city. It’s the perfect escape for anyone who wants a taste of local Edinburgh life beyond the typical tourist paths.

What makes this property unique
What sets this home apart is its soul. Rather than a "standard" rental, the space features an eclectic, hand-selected collection of furniture, vibrant art and crafts, and thriving plants. Every piece has been chosen with care, often gathered from my travels. Plus, people love the effect – a unique, bright, high-quality, calm and inspiring environment.
