I’m Samuli, a Finnish host who divides his time between busy everyday life in Tampere and recharging in Lapland. Our family has always loved Ruka and the Finnish Lapland – the snow, the trails, the changing seasons – and Tunturituuli is our way of sharing that with others.
I enjoy good coffee, long days outdoors and simple, well-thought-out spaces that are easy to live in. That’s what we’ve tried to create in this cabin: a place where everything works, so you can focus on your holiday instead of small hassles.
I like hosting because it’s rewarding to help guests have a smooth, memorable stay – especially first-time visitors to Lapland. Check-in is self-service and we respect your privacy, but I’m easy to reach and respond quickly to messages if you need tips, help or just reassurance about something.

Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood because it gives you the real Lapland feeling without losing any of the convenience. The cabin sits in a quiet forest area near Vuosseli/Ruka Valley, so you wake up to snow-covered trees, reindeer tracks and fresh Nordic air – yet the lifts, ski school, rental shops and restaurants are only a short walk or quick drive away.
What we enjoy most is how easy it is to step straight into nature. In winter, groomed cross-country ski trails start practically from the doorstep, and alpine skiing is just down the road. In summer and autumn, the same trails turn into beautiful routes for hiking, trail running, mountain biking and berry picking, with lakes and national parks like Oulanka within comfortable day-trip distance.
It’s also a very calm, family-friendly area: no nightclubs or heavy traffic outside the windows, just other cabins and forest. On clear nights there is little light pollution, so you can often simply turn off the lights, step into the yard and watch the stars – and with a bit of luck, the northern lights – right above the cabin.

The cabin sits in a quiet area near Vuosseli/Ruka Valley, about 0.5 miles (800 m) from the lifts and ski school, with a groomed cross-country ski trail starting right from the yard. You don’t need a car for every outing – you can simply step outside and head straight to the slopes or tracks.
Inside, it’s a modern, spacious wooden cabin (3 bedrooms + loft, up to 9 guests) that’s designed for real-life use, not just for photos. There’s a proper sauna with two showers, two toilets, a utility room with washing machine and two drying cabinets, smart TVs upstairs and downstairs, fast Wi-Fi for remote work and an EV charging point in the carport. The layout works equally well for two families, a group of friends or a longer “workation”.
For families, Tunturituuli is especially easy: your stay includes a complimentary travel cot, high chair, potty and child safety gate, and we can arrange an extra cot and/or high chair for a small fee.
