Higginson House dates back to the 16th Century and the Gyldenscroft Estate, bequeathed to the family of Gen. Sir George W. A. Higginson, G.C.B.
The General was a personal friend of the Royal Family, with King George V and Queen Mary becoming frequent visitors the house.
