Candeias House offers you a refuge from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, set in the rural surroundings of Branda da Aveleira!

Comfort and amenities are present in every nook and cranny so that you can enjoy your stay to the full.

It has a social area with a fully equipped kitchen, a living room with a salamander and a full bathroom with shower. Up the stairs you'll find two bedrooms, each with a double bed and a single bed in each room.

Whether it's the warmth of the wood burning stove or the comfort of the air conditioning, this space is designed to make you feel at home!

The outdoor area opens a window onto the branda landscape and invites you to relax and let yourself be in the silence and buzz of nature!

Access to Casa das Candeias is via a mountain path, the last 100 metres of which can only be reached by jeep or on foot! Privacy is guaranteed!

The name of Casa das Candeias takes us back to ancient times when the only form of lighting was the ‘Candeia’. When it got dark, almost everything was done by candlelight (candeias): food was prepared, people ate at the table, dishes were washed, linen was spun and stories were told. Many stories throughout the night.

Wealthier homes had several lamps (candeias), but poorer homes usually had just one lamp.

Electricity would only come into use many years later, arriving here too, in this remote village, lost in the mountains, but a meeting place for those who seek nature as a refuge!
